Our teams across #Gaza received seven patients, including two children, with injuries from Israeli attacks, in just three days, between Jan. 31 and Feb. 2, 2026.

Hundreds of people have been killed since the #ceasefire agreement.

Over one million Ukrainians are enduring freezing temperatures with intermittent heat, water, and electricity due to Russia’s attacks on civilian infrastructure.

Russia should cease targeting Ukraine’s energy grid and inflicting inhumane conditions on civilians.

It rings hollow when you selectively invoke the fundamental principles of international law, i.e. when your rights and interests are threatened...

If anything, China and Russia might be getting emboldened by this flagrant violation... EU govts seem too chickened out to call it what it is, so far (from left to right)..

small and medium enterprises are a big force behind the entrenchment of the political right in many rich countries precisely because of their despise of regulation (see paper below), so fighting climate regulation is materially and ideologically existential for them

Ongoing decimation of British universities part 252:

Apx. 1000 academic staff at University of Essex just received formal ‘risk of redundancy’ letters via email.

Please share @ucuessex.bsky.social @ucu.org.uk

Since they're not restructuring, they're putting us all at risk because there may be a diminished need for "teaching and research", which are... the university's missions I guess?

In yet more devastating news, the VC has confirmed her plans to cut 80% of academic staff from Essex Pathways, our foundation year department. This would effectively close down all our existing foundation year programmes through the back door.

But it's not a done deal yet. Please share urgently.

It's good to see MPs paying attention to universities facing crisis. Perhaps you could explain to your constituents how the current government is doing so much harm to the higher education sector through their HE and immigration policies, rather than reversing the harm done by reckless Tory policies

It's official: 400 redundancies and a campus closure. At-risk staff will get a letter next week. Absolutely no serious consideration of any of the union's counterproposals.

Please share widely.

Thank you for writing these reflections on rejections & emphasizing that they are not the exception. one additional point that this piece prompted for me is the need to accept the level of subjectivity involved in reviews & that proposals/papers might succeed without necessarily being at top shape.

ICC staff print files and prepare for blackout as US sanctions loom International Criminal Court fears work under threat because of dependence on American IT systems

The ICC's OTP strategic goal to be a world leader in accountability technologies currently feels V distant with the OTP now having to print out hard copies of files in fear that they won't be able to access their tech & IT systems if/when the court itself is sanctioned #ICC - tinyurl.com/2fda8dua
