I stood at the edge of that large crowd, still managed to have that giant flag float right over me. On the metro ride home, the platform was full of "Canadians," from all over, holding those paper Cdn flags on sticks you see at July 1 gatherings.
It was monumental. Towards the end of the campaign, when the "Oui" side appeared winning, Canadians from all over were phoning Quebecers, at random, to plead that they reject sovereignty. They then flew into Montreal for a huge unity rally.
I'd like to try this sport this spring/summer. Fun fact: The very first international sports event was a cricket match between USA and Canada (well, the British colonies which later became Canada).
Sidewalks are like railroads. Everything is fine and smooth on your journey until one tiny patch is unsafe, then your journey is totally derailed. Sure, we can walk around it by going on the street, but that is not a solution. I support cities clearing these public paths.
