IMO, the first clue to this behavior is that she's driving a BMW.

I have to imagine that the data folks have fun looking for outliers like this and laughing when they see the wild hardware that random folks will launch Steam on.

@jeffgeerling.com I'm looking into commenting systems for my static site blog, and saw you use Remark42. What are your opinions on it? I'm looking for something boring - hoping that spam and moderation are easy to manage.

@jacobgeller.com Heya Jacob! What's the best way to reach out to you for business requests? I reached out to you via the contact form on your website a few weeks back and hadn't heard back, so I wasn't sure if those messages got to you, or if too much email comes in and they're in the abyss.

The number of times the pain clinic in the medical park I worked at would call me up to let me know they had food catered by a pharma rep and needed help cleaning it out is immeasurable. At the time (I was barely in my 20's), I was thankful for the free lunch.

In retrospect, it's maddening.

Thanks! Your work is very important to our safety. Also, thanks for maintaining BlueSky as a comms channel. The alerts (and memes) are awesome, and it's precious to have such a direct channel to ask questions and participate.

I'm curious about more. Are there resources that I can look at that document recall fraud? Studies?

Looking for small nuggets of joy, it's beautiful to see that (albeit incredibly successful and popular) indie devs are getting to work with legendary composers on their projects.

Let's gas up working with cool people regardless of the scale.

This list calls to me. During the sea shanty craze at the end of 2020, I started layering some beats overtop a few of them and called them Ship Hop.

15 years is a fantastic run, and you've done one of the hardest things a creator can do: knowing when it's time to stop. Best of luck on wherever life takes you, and the podcast sounds fun! I'll have to check it out!

Enjoying IRC and finding nostalgic joy in custom sounds I recently came back to using IRC regularly after my friend and colleague Jochen Liilch migrated his Monospace Mentor community chat from Discord to IRC. It’s been a treat to go back to a simpler chat...

Gotcha, thanks! So this isn't a petition for "the definitive cut" as a want for archival purposes?

First I'm hearing of the deleted scenes. Up for sharing what was cut?

Misadventures in Mail Archiving, and How Bichon Saved The Day I recently set up Bichon, a really neat mail archiving app from the creator of RustMailer. Bichon was everything I was looking for in a mail archiver - web based access without the cruft of a webmail ...

I set up a new email archival solution in my home network a little while ago, and I figured it was worth writing about. codywilson.co/posts/mail-a...

Buckle up, friendo. You started an interactive visual novel. One of my favorites, but a _lot_ of reading. I hope you enjoy it!

I need to finish the video so you may have covered this, but I'm definitely interested in what your post-testing plans are for it. That's a massive crapton of compute for your home rack.

"CEO Said A Thing!" Journalism "CEO said a thing!" journalism involves parroting the claims of a business leader or executive with absolutely no context, correction, or challenge whatsoever, no matter how elaborate the delusion.

Over at the newsletter I wrote about the unholy scourge that is "CEO said a thing!" journalism:

Homebrew routers just got a whole lot more important in the US
Homebrew routers just got a whole lot more important in the US YouTube video by Level 2 Jeff

There's never been a better time to build your own router—a practice which the FCC will hopefully not *also* ban for US #homelab consumers :)

Looks like WezTerm gooses ulimits on startup if the profile doesn't have anything configured. github.com/wezterm/wezt...

Check your user resource limits. ulimit -a will show you all user limits, and also shows the argument for making changes. Changes you make might not take effect until restart Ghostty.

As for why Ghostty might have significantly more open files open, that sounds issue-worthy.

If I was a carpenter, I'd love to build some retro-modern furniture like this. I've been kinda pining for things like old console TVs, but I was thinking of the square boys, not something that's practically a conversation piece like this.

IMO, this sounds like premeditated interest in the person you wanna chat with. That to me sounds like you care about the person you wanna hang with and want to make sure you're engaging with them. The model of how you make that happen is largely irrelevant.

The fever dream of the SquareEnix 2026 Publisher Sale video by @acemcdunk.bsky.social is freaking awesome.

Oh jeez, I was there around this time, but I was 8, and was "actively discouraged" to avoid the video games in the Imagineering building of EPCOT because "you can play video games at home" -_-

In support of your efforts, this image as presented could plausibly been taken from a keynote at, say, RSA. It really helped to sell the kayfabe, which was one of the reasons I enjoyed those early days posts.
