Mine is Tristram from Diablo 1. You have a town large enough to meet your demands. And the point of adventure just outside the border.

That's right, Maze Rats! I'm going to get Cairn and Cairn 2e printed. Still think I'll get Knave 2e, especially after the great things Inah e heard. I'll be grabbing all three. Why not?

So I've been following Ben Milton over there at questing Beast for a while. I really want Knave 2e (for reasons you mentioned) and Cairn. Do I need Knave 1e for any reason other than to support Ben?

If you have not heard of Runehammer definitely go check that channel out. He's an artist, author, storyteller, content creator and most known for his game Index Card RPG, and more recently Crown & Skull. Hell of a good human!

I'm going to go check that out. Have you heard of Return of the Lazy Dungeon Master?? That is a gem from what I have heard. And I have learned to trust their opinions as they align with my own preferences.

I'm loving grabbing up some indy OSR (wish there was a different name for it) stuff. I've been in the hobby since TSR days, and have been running 5e since 2017. The last couple years I've been very much pulled back into the OSR, the grittier & simpler systems, indy systems. My RPG heart lives there.

What is so awesome about the hobby is we have all these genres, systems, and rulesets that accommodate about every style of play. There truly is something for everyone 😉

Yeah I agree. We can run whatever tone or home brew rules we want. The core design of the game (post WotC) I believe has been pushed to reflect current media i.e. MCU. Every class has magical powers, whether magical items appear or not. As well as the Venn diagrams of classes overlapping, a lot.

This is why I love TSR era D&D, as well as Shadowdark. The characters were adventurers, and gained "power" through skill, experience, and the loot they find along the way. Rather than the current super heroic take, where super hero style powers emerge as they level up.

As an avid Elder Scrolls 2 Daggerfall fan, I lost my sh*t when I saw this. Wayward Realms is made by the same folks that made Daggerfall, and is saying it will be the spiritual successor to Daggerfall... Again, they will hold the crown for the biggest explorable game.

Oh man, remember when PC games came in boxes with all the extra manuals, etc? Remember when we actually had the physical copies of our games? I was a die hard Diablo 1 fan. Although this one stepped away from the gothic dark fantasy from D1, it sure as hell was an awesome game.
