Come and meet the WortSchatzInsel team at #ScienceGoesCity in Göttingen on Sunday!
We have multiple job alerts by SFB members to share:
Marcella Woud (@marcellawoud.bsky.social) at @uni-goettingen.de is looking for a PhD student to study face perception in social anxiety:

i will stake a strong claim and say that it is almost never a bad idea for you, a grad student, to roll up to a conference and just introduce yourself to people you'd like to talk to. profs absolutely love talking to students. just go for it!! we're nice!
A sign saying "Liebe" ("love" in German) hangs above a set of empty library shelves
The "Romance" section of our local library contains all the great German works in this genre - so inspiring.
New paper by Amani Lavefjord, @larsklintwall.bsky.social & colleagues: Testing the network centrality hypothesis in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy with Perceived Causal Networks in a Single Case Experimental Design. Results are mixed, the design is worth a look! 🔗 doi.org/10.1016/j.jc... #ACT
🌟 We're delighted to have Dr Jessica Richardson hosting a BABCP Spring Conference workshop 🌟

...*That* Nick only brings presents to the well-behaved; the rest just receive a lump of coal. True, drinking this beer increases the risk of you landing in this latter group, but at least you'll be able to make a nice fire to enjoy the beer beside.
... to cope with the high gravity I used a Belgian ale yeast, giving it a bit more of a Flemish character. Then casked it on 6th December, leading to confusion with another, very different Nick...
A bottle of very fine looking beer from the Longwall Brewery (motto: Cerevisia omnia vincit), "Oude Nick" with an original gravity of 1102, next to a glass of the beer.
Latest home-brewed beer from the Longwall Brewery: I was feeling nostalgic for "Old Nick", the barley wine formerly brewed by Young's so decided to make my own. But...
That was for the first of these studies - sadly they didn't assess how many of those who didn't want to enter the plane were VfL Bochum fans: www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...

Fazit: One Session Treatment als Gruppentherapie wirkt!

Planning this required learning how to do the sequential Bayesian analyses for a logistic regression, which was a nice side-effect of being involved!
The protocol paper also links to the R scripts for the simulations so you can see how this was done.
Very pleased to see this protocol published for a trial led by Sho Okawa investigating guided parent-delivered CBT for children with anxiety disorders via remote sessions in Japan - another nice application of a Bayesian sequential design!

Conceptually it makes sense, and could be very useful - let's see if it replicates.
This is an interesting set of studies investigating a memory reactivation + eye movements intervention - results suggest that reactivation outside of conscious awareness (masked visual reminder cues) is effective in reducing intrusive memories:

🎉 I just published my second paper! Woo!
In psychotherapy trials we often see that symptoms reduce between screening and start of treatment. A plausible idea about that is that patients self-refer when their fluctuating symptoms are extra bad. We checked! (we tried to check) //
Our crowdsourced megastudy comparing a diverse set of 12 single-session interventions for depression is out today in @nathumbehav.nature.com!

Looks like double-bling to me.
I hope they report on whether there were any lapses of bling.
There's still time to take part in #BABCP2026 at the University of Warwick from 14-16 July. You can submit Open papers, Posters or 3-minute talks, but hurry, the deadline is only one week away, closing on 27 Feb. Find out more about taking part at our Annual Conference👇

Great to see another RCT out showing promising results for an imagery-competing task (Tetris) in reducing intrusive memories amongst healthcare workers. Also nice to see another sequential Bayeisan design!
