Lots of simultaneous thoughts: I’m *loving* the Dem redistricting backbone/bully bashback. It’s also another rhetorical tool in GOP election theft and misinfo control. We’re going to win on paper in November and 2028. We’re also all continuing to lose and this fragmentation of truth is terrifying

They are systematically decimating policy pathways and authority for states to do anything to protect the environment or climate while simultaneously gutting federal law. This bill is really important. This cuts states at the knees and burns the planet. Raise hell about this.
Congrats! Your compassionate voice and perspective really helps me see things so much more clearly. Thank you and it’s so well deserved.
A New Jersey data center will reportedly receive $77 million in tax breaks — while only creating one permanent job.
One job, in exchange for higher utility bills, noise pollution, and potential groundwater pollution.
Is it any wonder communities are organizing to stop data centers?
My tween asked a seemingly simple question about why all the fast-casual restaurants nearby have closed and we ended up talking about late stage capitalism and publicly traded companies/stock market, and where people spend limited money in downturns. I think the system might be broken.
Private online screening of our “Mom’s Club” documentary about PTA moms tracking Proud Boys and the dark money groups funding their violence is 4/23/26!
For no particular reason, I’ve been wondering about any policy limits (or resources) to repurpose or adopt sidewalk-adjacent greenery for food and general resilience. City wide community garden resources might be helpful soon (for survival, environmental, and social resilience).
Never let the people forget that the Hollowing Out and Theft of every system that matters is because of Republicans. They can never wash the blood off their hands. Generations have to remember that MAGA are mass murders and insatiable thieves.
The insurance markets are appropriately accounting for the real-world costs of climate and long-covid, and the entire world is sticking fingers in their ears and screaming lalalala-i-can’t-hear-you. The problem is that climate and pandemics don’t care what you want and reality is here.
It's been 50 days. We are slowly sliding into a global gas crisis. At the same time we are slowly sliding into a new normal where renewables ensure we don't have to fear another global gas crisis. But that doesn't solve the crisis we have.
The specific policies we had for HD EVs in the US were less than ideal, with real concerns. But now we’re scrapping them and then trying to blow up access to any future EV policy mechanisms, damning us to a fossil fuel future, failed manufacturing sector, and economic ruin.
I’ve heard he has a spare raccoon penis ready for the job.
HAPPIEST SATURDAY!!! Genuinely teared up reading this. After a year and a half of stochastic terrorism against the trans community, this is a real win.
Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez addresses a meeting of Hispanic left leaders in Barcelona: “The right wing is on the decline. People are realizing that they have no vision or solutions, just hatred and empty slogans. All they’ve brought to the world is war, inflation, inequality, and social division.”
I was just screaming with my partner about citizens united and the crimes of SCOTUS last night. And now this. Fuck your Chevron, we’re still going to build something better.
I’d rather not be living through the collapse of empire, international order, and climate but softball Saturday is still pretty nice today. Try to find a glimmer of kindness and light in your own life too.
Multiple peer reviewed studies in high impact journals have shown a substantial benefit of gender affirming care for trans youth. A heroin addict who cut off a raccoon's penis for "further study" says this care is dangerous. For busy Americans, it can be hard to know who to trust.
This Trump administration is proof that DEI is the only thing keeping every pillar of American society from crumbling under the weight of the most incompetent and corrupt idiots among us.
the combination of Ohio, Chevron, and Jarkesy is to tell the extraordinarily rich “there’s no one who can hold you accountable for anything if you can afford a lawsuit”
It shocks me how many businesses still don’t seem to get that Trump’s cultural revolution did not actually happen
Senator Wyden can’t say it plainly without losing his security clearance, but this raises the alarm that Kash & crew have decided they can illegally surveil Americans without a warrant.
Exactly one year ago today:
The Opsec is good, right? Social media transparency (esp 2am rants) wins diplomacy and war, right?
In all seriousness tho, our oligarch overlords are sending US kids to die (via negligence, lack of support, impossible military goals) after murdering Iranian schoolgirls. They Do Not Care If We The People Die (in fact, I think they might like it.)
I’m just a woke non-warfighter type, but I have actually read history books, and I’m pretty sure logistics and food are core to military success. But maybe our stable geniuses have special inside information (aside from their prediction market bets)?
The first rule of Fight Club is don’t talk about Fight Club (except IRL).
Dying at Temu Pritzker. And yes, I’m buying what he’s selling. He actually put in the coalition and policy work for the last 4 years and is fine in a good enough way.
45-50 is Xennial We’ve never been Gen X or Millennial. It’s a weird micro generation that had internet starting in high school and college. Culturally/developmentally, it matters that wasn’t in elementary or full adulthood. www.upworthy.com/nate-bergatz...
I’d love to see this done for policy activists, regulators, and leg staff. I’ve found that environmental activists are VERY resistant to credit mechanisms because local communities get burned & authority/processes shape how agencies craft policy. Public isn’t involved at the development level.
