Begging fan wiki contributors to cite sources.

The stories will write themselves in my head whether I choose to write them down or not. Writing them down makes me happy. I love turning a vague idea of something I think would be cool into a story that is comprehensible to other people. I love the process of writing.

This isn't a "you have to learn the rules before you can break them" thing. It's a "making yourself out to be some kind of edgy rebel while unwittingly replicating all the flaws of the very thing you claim to be rebelling against makes you look like a dumbass" thing.

"Fuck canon" has its virtues as an interpretive stance, but you've gotta know what the canon is before you can fuck it.

She eventually also develops a deep trust in Y'shtola, but that takes longer. With Y'shtola, it's less they'll sit down and have a deep conversation, and more Ariane knows she could call on Y'shtola for help at any hour and she'd be there for her.

The first people she confides in about that are Urianger and Lyse, though I don't actually know yet in what order.

She and Lyse grow very close during StB, though, and Ariane shares a lot with her.

Does Ariane feel in hindsight that she refused Hydaelyn's call when she should have gone out and tried to help, yes. And it's a HUGE source of secret shame to her for years.

because she was ashamed. She may not have known what it was at the time of the Calamity, but she knew there was a call for adventurers, and she chose to stay home with her family (who were nonetheless killed in the Calamity).

Would Minfila judge her for this, no.

Though that second answer is complicated! There was a time when Ariane was afraid to tell even her sister about her strange visions.

When she first joined the Scions, she felt more comfortable with Minfilia than anyone else, but she was still afraid to reveal how long she'd had the Echo,

Talking about her life before the Calamity, her family, and the fact that she had the Echo since she was twelve.

Her most trusted people are her sister and Urianger.

This an old set but I had a lot of feelings when the eorzea encyclopedia vol. 3 dropped and we got the lore of Y'shtola making the nixie cause she wanted a playmate. The same reason why Arsay taught herself how to summon a carbuncle at roughly the same age. #arshtola
