Sorry guys, I sent photos of McCarthy and Wolfhounds from my other account by mistake!!
The lyrics and songs of the first two albums stood head and shoulders above most of the other stuff going on at that time. They still sound great now.
It's not bad. One journo did make a good point though, you could never here Vickys violin clearly so that did affect how the tunes came across.
I would have joined. TP! fizzled out cause the singer went back to Perth at the end of '88. I auditioned for Silverfish, didn't get it. I don't think we were a good fit for each other.
Bit of both, I'd say. Agree, they were terrific.
It obviously wasn't the gig for him.
Very unfair reviews! Didn't like the "limp wimp beat" comment, especially!
I helped them out on 5 or 6 gigs. TP! got to know them & McCarthy when we moved to London and I was happy to stand in until they got a permanent drummer. These reviews were gigs I played and the Falcon recording, too.

Brilliant tune. Listening to it a lot at the moment. Tidal put together some mixes for me and this is on one!
Cracking movie!
Great movie!
Undertent heating! ππ
Sounds like you need to get yourself up to Edinburgh for a couple of days every August! I moved here mid 90's first saw him at the fringe 96/97 as Alan Parker and pretty much seen him every year since (bar 5yrs when living elsewhere). I hope he keeps coming for a few more years yet!!
He is nothing less than a genius! The only comedian to make me cry tears of laughter. π
Amen π
It is that time of year where we worship this video π₯

Went to a couple of their gigs. Bonkers, when I think about it now. Flour, eggs flying everywhere, audience invited on stage to drink copious amounts of cider through a funnel! Haircuts on stage. Mad!Mad!Mad!
King Kurt liked their flour, too!
First band I ever saw, supporting Skids. Still got their 1st album.

My first ever photo of a band was CG (& Caesar)! Just got a camera for my birthday 2 weeks before.
Great band. Saw them supporting Bauhaus in '82, bit of a mismatch but I liked them. Always thought of them as a pop version of Fire Engines!
One more. 2nd single in Nov '87, in NME chart for 5 weeks.
Saw them in London, Bull and Gate, I think. The gig was advertised as Toilets of Destruction!
And featured lower down the charts:
- Elvis Costello - "Blue Chair"
- Man 2 Man meets Man Parrish - "Male Stripper"
- The Godfathers - "Love Is Dead"
- Bambi Slam
- The Submarines - "Grey Skies Blue"
- Bog-Shed
- Biff Bang Pow
- This Poison!
- Miaow - "When It All Comes Down"
...and more
And here's the chart from our archive scrap book. Straight in at 26, then up to 18 then straight back out! π
The Grill was great back in the day. Our guitarist, Dek, dj'd on a Friday night for 2 or 3 years and The Grill gave him Β£15 a week to buy records. We'd go down on a Friday and Dek would have latest releases that we would probably buy too.
Gets my vote!
