The first place I think of when I try to tell someone about this quality is a corner of an English country garden where a peach tree grows against a wall. My point here is: the best plan for fixing a design system is no plan at all.

Me ten mins later: the icon is bad because the system sucks because there’s no UI engineers because management doesn’t do that work because the industry doesn’t advocate for it because web design is seen as a joke because the heat death of the universe…

I think this is why you can’t plan for design systems work in the same way that you can for a product. Because, quite honestly, no one has any idea how bad any of it is until you roll up your sleeves.
