As for fuel duty, he has to be serious with voters about trade-offs, in this case, curbing demand. Many Lib Dem constituencies and 2029 targets are full of environmentally minded folks who would, after some grumbling, welcome a message on this on those lines. Who knows when the crisis will end?
It feels too much like Davey's fighting the last election with the tactics still employed by him and the close(d) leadership network. There are six-seven times the number of MPs now, many of whom have good, transferrable experience from the working world away from politics. Use them or lose them.
