I'd love to follow your discovery as I'm hearing libraries are saying "no" to AI tools in the academic library. Seems short-sighted to me.

Having recently returned to my #librarian roots, after a decade away, I am curious about #librarysky views on #AI and libraries.
It seems that librarians are more conservative than I would expect, to the point of banning AI. Am I misreading the field? Or is this an anomaly?
I relate to this as my mother was dying. It seemed to me that most of the time the doctors were just guessing. It can be frustrating and exhausting and I feel your pain Meredith.
ERIC stands for Education Resources Information Center and it is a curated online public library of 2.1 million educational documents ... ERIC is scheduled to run out of money on April 23. www.governing.com/policy/major...
It’s the third day of my new job and it’s been going really well. The only challenge is working on a windows machine for all those hours. I can administer windows, but having to work on it constantly is a little draining as I learned the shortcuts.
Back in the day (2007-2012), librarian twitter was such a lifesaver for both work and networking. And so considering a return to social here as I re-enter my beloved field of librarianship.
This week I return to libraries as the Systems Librarian at University of the Fraser Valley in Abbotsford, British Columbia.
A big change on several levels: a decade as a Library Director, then 5-years as a Dean, and now a new country!

I have a love/hate with the show. Can’t stop watching but also disturbed by it.

I think France has a different kind of intensity. But it’s been a while since I spent time in Paris. In the US it feels like a constant stream of sound and advertising. And everything is the same everywhere. Feels monoculture.

Just about visited all the #coffee shops in Saskatoon on my visit. Today it was Venn roasters who have this great train painted on the side of the wall.
Whoa! I had no idea you had Fresno roots. My first job was delivering the Bee. Circa 1980.

Say hello to Jem for me! Maybe I should have flown east instead of west yesterday. 😉
Back in the States (from 2-weeks in Iceland) less than 12-hours and I already feel the intensity of American culture. It’s quite overwhelming with sound, visuals, and conversations. It really makes me think about where I’d like to live.
Have you ever considered going to Iceland for their annual Iceland Airwaves music festival? 🎧 it’s definitely worth it and here’s my experience from this year.

Unbelievably, one can move from being severely depressed and suicidal to joy and freedom. Time, big effort, and friends.

Morrissey on stage bowing.
I’ve heard Morrissey more times in the last two weeks than the last decade. Seems he gets played a lot here in Iceland.
For once I’ve remembered to buy a small gift for those hosting me in the coming weeks. And I’m only 56-yo!
