I somehow managed to get the last ticket in this theatre for the TADC finale on premiere night, and I could not be more excited.
And also completely dreading whatever psychological horrors await us in that finale.
The fact this only hitting the news now makes me concerned they've already decided on a shutdown, and this PR is just to build consent for it.
The praise for Ottawa's LRT improving turned ironic fast, since the line is indefinitely incapable of running full peak service because around two-thirds of the entire fleet is out of service from design defects.
And if you do spend years refining the "perfect" thing, that doesn't even mean it will be "good" because you've probably gotten so lost in your own head you may have lost sight of what it actually needs, while neglecting technical foundations you would otherwise learning by doing more things.
Perfect is always the enemy of good.
You can spend years endlessly refining the same thing, chasing the impossible dream of perfection. Or in the same time you could have put out any number of projects, each giving valuable insight on how to improve the next one.
Even if the problem was exclusively the tracks, it's not like tearing them all up to accommodate the existing trains was ever going to realistically be the solution.
Regardless of whether the problem is the rail or the train it's been almost five years since the need for a redesign of the wheel assembly was identified, yet it feels like we're no closer to getting a resolution to that.
Every time we getting used to a level of service from the LRT, they announce they are once again reducing its promised service "temporarily".
They can't even seem to decide whether the problem is that the wheels are not suitable for the track or that the track is not suitable for the wheels
They want to be taken seriously as opposition but also they don't want to say anything too strong because they're afraid of mean comments on Twitter
Videos so exclusively about games and nothing else, like last year's "Fantasies of Nuremberg". No political or controversial topics in those videos.
I don't think I've ever lost enthusiasm on something that's at the perfect intersection of my nerdy interests as fast as I did when I looked up the prices on the Lego Pokemon announcement. Absolute madness.
Also, canonically, the entire reason they're villains is because the abandoned the truth of the one true god - who is shown to exist - to embrace fire and brimstone, with the most "atheist in a Christian movie" origin story.
I almost wouldn't be shocked if Cameron made a cult out of this.
I think my enjoyment of these movies is almost inversely proportional to how much they resemble real cultures.
Alien culture unlike anything we've seen? Cool worldbuilding.
Fire people behaving like the stereotype of the "godless Indian savage"? Very uncomfortable in the theatre.
