51/ "75% of the world lives in fossil fuel importing countries. Every $10 oil price rise adds $160bn/year to the global import bill.
The single biggest fix: EVs replacing imported oil in transport could save importers $600bn/year."

"Many of these houses are breathtakingly ugly, making no attempt to enliven a public realm. These displays of wealth are not like Andrew Carnegie endowing a library; they are more like Clint Eastwood’s daughter setting fire to a $100,000 handbag."
This article beautifully sums up current housing issues. They exist in my city, Calgary, and I expect in most North American cities.

"When you ask people if their support for #ClimateAction goes up or down if linked with tackling #inequality, increasing income transfers to lower income people, raising taxes for the wealthy & corporations, job guarantees etc, the support for bold climate action goes through the goddamn roof."

“In Finland, the number of homeless people has fallen sharply. Those affected receive a small apartment & counselling with no preconditions. 4 out of 5 people affected make their way back to a stable life. And all this is CHEAPER than accepting homelessness.”

The City of New Westminster is the FIRST municipality in Canada to pass a maximum heat bylaw. 🌡️🥵
Our homes are our first line of defense against extreme heat.
As climate events increase in frequency and severity, it’s more important than ever for Canadians to have access to safe temperatures.
"As long as we depend on oil and gas, we will continue to pay the price for other people's wars," the PM stated.
The government also reiterated its aim to install one million heat pumps "made in France" each year by 2030, which would allow heating costs to be "halved."
VERY BIG NEWS out of France a week ago:
"French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu announced on Friday, April 10, a ban on installing gas heating systems "by year's end" in new buildings, including multi-unit housing, to curb France's dependence on fossil fuels."
