Life Update:

Officially converted to staff scientist halfway through my postdoc ✨

Celebrated by presenting on nuclear data measurements in high energy density plasmas at NIF in no better place than Hawaii 🌸

Loved this one so much! Low risk, comfy cozy. Devoured it in an evening.

I’d agree with this estimate.

So thankful for a boss who understands that I need a minimum 2 hours of dilly dally-ing before I’ll show up to work.

I started weeks ago but haven’t finished 😂 I feel like it’s heavy prose, minimal plot. But even the prose feels tedious & could be cut down.

Oh we had one of those, glad to see there’s still one going strong out there 😂 impossible to find someone to service those!

Now we have revvity for technical support for them 🙄

I went up to Horsetooth last weekend before my flight out & immediately regretted it 😂 the peace I was searching for was nowhere to be found!

My job is simple, really:

I introduce impurities into my pure radionuclide solutions to figure out new ways to purify my radionuclide solutions.

4 flights the past 2 weeks & 4 more this month - I am NOT cut out for travel. I’m tired. I have no routine. Switching from travel back to lab work has a huge activation barrier. How do you do it? What are the secrets?

Absolutely did! Students stayed for 30 minutes after to talk. Im giving a lecture tomorrow and am planning to plug a bunch of different internship & school options!

My former mentor was anxious all day about no one showing & the science hall was very quiet. But they screened the first movie in their brand new planetarium that discussed how heavy elements form in space which was the perfect plug for my talk!

I returned to my undergrad to give a seminar on using fusion to support astrophysics & stockpile stewardship today. Not only was it my first seminar that was a full house, but chemistry, physics, political science, and anthro students came… the day before thanksgiving break!!
