Helpful meta-analysis on what kinds of prompts are associated with improved learning in digital learning environments. Prompts tailored to participants and triggered by user actions, rather than being time-triggered, were most effective. #PsychSciSky #AcademicSky #EduSky

When One Size Doesn’t Fit All Many psychological scientists are now calling for a “heterogeneity revolution,” focused on uncovering individual and contextual differences in experimental outcomes.

My work with Paul von Hippel on treatment effect heterogeneity was recently featured in this great article by Scott Sleek in the @psychscience.bsky.social Observer Magazine

Pretty cool article if I do say so myself!

Does parental support amplify growth mindset predictions for student achievement and persistence? Another piece of evidence supporting the "seed and soil" framing of growth mindset. A growth mindset (seed) is more strongly associated with positive outcomes in climates that support that mindset (soil). doi.org/10.1007/s112...

New book written by teachers for teachers (who happen to also be cognitive experts in learning)!

My chapter interleaving is probably one of my favorite things that I've written. I'm so excited about this book. The chapters are all digestible and concrete without sacrificing deeper understanding.

We ran correlations with the strength of the moderating role of parental support on country-level collectivism and found a positive association from .35 to .51 (see below). Parental support effects on mindset-outcomes link is notable in collective contexts. A cross-cultural food for thought.💭

Some highlights✨
1️⃣ We found that, overall, parental support increases the growth mindset predictions on achievement/persistence
2️⃣ This is true in some countries, but not in others (variations are beyond east vs west comparison)
3️⃣ Post-hoc analyses showed collectivism has a role to play in variations

So happy to share our cross cultural study using the PISA data. Hyun Ji (from OSU) and I found cultural variations in how parental support can influence the mindset-achievement/persistence link, with stronger effects seen in collective cultures.
