Awww, sweet Gracie! I’m glad she’s healing. I am rarely on here, and this was the first thing I saw when I opened the app, and I’m so glad! Heal, Gracie, heal!!

The Hidden Trauma of Jury Duty

I’m glad Liz Krieger recognized this and wrote about it. Missing our family trip to Mexico because I had to sit on a manslaughter trial was the least of my issues (this was in 2008. I’m ok now). Gift article.

Fobazi has given so much to our profession and has fearlessly spoken truth to power on a variety of critically important issues that impact the well-being of library workers. Please contribute if you can and think healing thoughts for her.

This is my experience as well.

This is awful, and I’m so sorry this happened to you.

Hard to believe! In a similar vein, my high school class just had their 45th reunion (I didn’t go, but I’ll go to the 50th). It seems impossible, yes?

Thank you. That was helpful in curbing my anger at the volume of texts I receive from politicians. Actually, the anger is still there. I just have a better understanding 🙂

Does incense go bad? Because I burned some piñon incense yesterday, which I used to love. But the house just smells like smoke now. When I’m in the house I get a headache and a dry cough. The incense is at least three years old, probably older. Thoughts?

I'm thinking this might be location-dependent? Obviously, we get a lot of tornado news here, including news from other states.

Yes! The app that shows me photos from years past is messed up! It was definitely 2019. Thank you! I’m going to see if I can update the metadata, but I don’t have high hopes.

On this day in 2021. Never forget.

I really miss Travis. That is all.

I haven’t particularly followed schol comm conversations, issues, ideas, or articles since retiring. This article definitely caught my attention though. I found it engaging and notable. Congratulations to the authors!

Thank you so much. I think we were both lucky! But it does help to know that I gave him a very good life. 💔

A Spotlight on Rumors
A Spotlight on Rumors YouTube video by UW (University of Washington)

I watched this presentation about online disinformation by @katestarbird.bsky.social based on a recommendation. Despite some audio issues, I greatly enjoyed it and will be thinking about it for quite awhile. So I’m passing along the recommendation so that you can watch it too.

Thank you! Yes, he was a great dog – best I’ve ever had, in fact.

Thank you! I was better prepared this time vs. when Hannah died. But you’re right – it’s hard no matter what. Your cute, freckled potato brings me joy though!

I picked up Travis’ ashes on Tuesday, and I’m still really sad. On the flip side, we sent all our rugs out to be professionally cleaned, and we got them back today. The house still feels painfully empty, but at least it doesn’t echo anymore.

Tim told me about this on Monday. I never met Della, but Tim was pretty broken up. He knew her before he knew Ryan. Absolutely tragic and should have never happened. I can’t imagine Ryan’s pain and their kids’ pain.

Thank you, Nancy. It IS hard, despite knowing it was the right thing to do. I will think about our lives together often. ❤️

Much to my surprise, Travis' original adoption page from 2013 is still published. As you can see, I changed his name from Bear to Travis:

Every single staff member at the vet’s office was amazing, and *everyone* came into the room to say goodbye to him. He was so very loved, and so many people cared about him. Most of all, me.
