Shit, mate, if they can tax the rich, they can do it to anybody.
If the current wave of far right revival is soon to be joined by a far left movement, I hope the mainstream left will manage to tame that beast with more success than the conservatives had with Trump. In the end, though, they’ll probably spend all their time on feuding with AOC and Mamdani instead.
There probably are some lessons to be learned by democrats around the world about defeating autocrats from Hungary’s Tisza victory over Orbán.
But what we have really learned was how to defeat Viktor Orbán in Hungary in 2026.
We haven’t suddenly obtained a template for defeating all autocrats.
This looks like the same person interviewing his older self, only it’s the younger self that keeps struggling with a loose jaw. But I guess he’s just trying to copy the Tucker gaze.
Let’s hope that Magyar isn’t going to pull a Biden, being lenient on a clearly criminal regime and hoping that good governance alone is going to convince people who are living in a fact-free reality.
Short of claiming that the election was rigged, he’ll never mention it again.
Let me get this straight: the Strait is now being blocked by Iran *and* the US? What is this, a competition in piracy? Who takes or sinks more ships gets the right to pass?
Sure, they came to the table. Long enough to tell Trump to screw himself.
I guess the Iranians didn’t say thank you.
We’re reaching the Putin 2022 levels of cope. Man, if you’ve got a damn trump card, just play it already or shut up.
These wartime talks with Iran are just as unserious as the prewar talks.
This war isn’t anywhere near over yet.
Or talk shows, for that matter. I mean, no general healthcare system yet, America? No, but we got the late night so covered…
Not to mention they also have those nifty shopping trolleys where you must insert a coin, like those Tucker found in Moscow. A surefire sign of civilization.
When is he getting promoted?
Trump’s claim of a successful regime change may eventually turn out correct.
But it’s a bit like washing your car by drowning it in the river.
A moribund theocracy led by a frail octogenarian has been transformed into a junta of hardline generals who prefer martyrdom to defeat.
It’s like watching a North Korean news bulletin, only you don’t need the subtitles.
Well, most certainly can not beat him on every rung. That’s a bit rung-ho for Iran from Mearsheimer, not surprisingly. But Trump will never climb that high, so the professor is effectively correct.
An example of what happens to a paranoid mind whose rate of absorption for new conspiracy theories has moved from cumulative to exponential.
In the long run we're all gonna go around the bend and so on.
Orbán: "I won't send your sons to die in Ukraine!"
Also Orbán: "Look at the powerful men who support me! One has been sending men to die in Ukraine for years, and the other (who likes me so much he couldn't be bothered to visit) has just started a massive, senseless war in the Middle East!"
My brain before the first cup of coffee: "Is it a coincidence that Trump's gaslighting could fail him at last just as there's a global LNG shortage?"
At least some blame for that weird imbalance must be reserved for foreign influence operations. The question is how much.
"The Iran ceasefire is a stunning defeat for militarism."
Yeah, I'm sure that's the lesson the Iranian leaders are learning today...
Also, you still have Iran, you fopdoodle.
Oh, wouldn't the world be a wonderful place to be? Just for a day, please.
Blades of grass bedewed,
they caress my face,
off my knees I shan’t raise no more.
“She and I have an agreement” meaning “I told her and she better obey.”
Anybody wants to bet that if Trump does announce it, he will say something like “We have just done something everyone said nobody could do, we defeated Iran, changed the regime there very strongly and we’re taking out the uranium. We did all that without NATO, so we don’t need them.”
Trump is the Schrödinger of international relations.
