Online is like a lot of contemporary popular entertainment in that even if we didn't have this fake AI crap, we'd still be suffering under a deluge of slop, inexpertise, and know-nothing finance-brain.

So, in addition to abdicating their responsibilities on all the current crisis, have congressional Dems also decided that we were going to forget we're paying 3x more for our ACA plans (or just going without)?

Wasn't there some promise to address this in the spring when they caved in back in Nov?

A screen capture of a promoted LinkedIn post describing that "research" recently showed 71% of leaders have experienced something called "upward bullying", which the post fails to define, but attempts to suggest a solution by pasting together a lot of corporate buzzwords.

I am unsure of what point they were trying to make.

LinkedIn posters struggling to keep up as AI increasingly is taking over the "feeding the self delusions of mediocre corporate manager" market.

My God, supervisors would not let nearby coworkers perform CPR, told them to get back to work

I propose an international law that once you become personally responsible for the murder of 1,000 people, be it via direct violence or policy, you are declared a dragon and adventurers can form parties to quest against you.

When AI in public schools comes up, I think it's always worth remembering the articles about the schools the tech barons send their kids to, where screen time is either outright banned or severely limited, and the kids have multiple arts and handicrafts lessons. Their kids learn to knit.

I started them out with some Dolmenwood modules to ease them into the OSR mindset of playstyle, and provided them with copies of @riseupcomus.bsky.social's elegant explanation of OSR play philosophy from His Majesty the Worm, and they've all embraced it flawlessly

I'm currently running a party through Arden Vul using shadowdark instead of OD&D and there's minimal conversion. Shadowdark is pretty easy for 5e players to switch to as well. All but one of the players are new to OSR and they're loving it.

It's not a huge hurdle to clear if you're really into it

My university: "Copilot is Microsoft's AI-powered productivity service that uses large language models (LLMs) to help you create content, analyze information, summarize documents, and complete tasks more efficiently."

It was just 24 days between when Zuck went on Rogan and talked about how "never again" would he suppress info based on gov't demands (misrepresenting those demands) and when he texted top gov't employee Elon Musk to say "we're all set up to take down info you want removed."

I wrote about it here.

When we later finally worked out the differences in slang for "fanny" between the two countries I think the quote from my uncle was "Sure, I thought, fuckin yanks! That's rude, but I guess the metaphor makes sense, where they're positioned and all." [Makes awkward hand gesture toward his groin]

I can recall with crystal clarity the mixed look of bemusement, titillation, and horror that crossed my Irish family's faces when they heard an American call them fanny packs the first time.

Yung Simba (@yo_its_simba) tweets: "I'm not really into politics. Anyway, let me tell you how much I hate my job, my boss, my landlord, my shitty health insurance, my student loans, my town's public transportation and the fact that I come home too tired to do anything after work every day."

Me: Yes, welcome to the Pacific Northwest. The trees are fucking, and we all must suffer for it.

You know if I were a "journalist" who had issues with "tricky science stuff" and every single scientific organization I referenced said that I had mischaracterized them I'd probably be fired.

Not for Jesse Singal, though. He gets to continue writing about science in between articles defending pedos

weird that Gavin Newsom's big strategy of cringey shitposting hasn't managed to unify California against the threat of an accidental Republican/Republican gubernatorial runoff

I'm not affiliated in any way, but I think His Majesty the Worm absolutely nails important parts of modern RP gameplay while still embracing the thrill of the danger of OSR dungeon crawling, on top of introducing a unique mechanic for randomization that allows for some limited strategy by players.

Okay, so:
1) fertilizers are in shortage;
2) E15 comes from corn fed with fertilizers;
3) land used to grow corn for ethanol produces 3.2% of the energy generated by covering the same amount of land with solar panels.

With all respect, what are we doing here?

Crossing my fingers this will kick so much ass it will finally put an end to the masochistic urge I've been feeling to try to run a party through Arden Vul using HMtW

And because I've seen the comparison: This is not an H.P. Lovecraft situation of "separate the art from the artist."

Lovecraft is a century dead. He's not alive right now, trying to suppress records of his yacht visiting Epstein Island and swearing to make the lives of millions of ppl unlivable.

Random Fact

In 2004, Ursula K. Le Guin described J.K. Rowling as:

“stylistically ordinary, imaginatively derivative, and ethically rather mean-spirited."

Confirming that Ursula K. Le Guin was, as usual, well ahead of her time.

If there was passage and aggressive enforcement of laws making it illegal to get rich using the insight and authority granted to elected officials, this is a problem that would largely solve itself. Most of these ghouls aren't doing it because they view themselves as public servants.
