If social media were extant in the 90s-00s, # WhereTheFuckIsMat would have been my tag every five chapters. People would have @‘d RJ with “Forgot Perrin existed again, huh?” at least once a week.

Book wise: Character creep was real, Rand ate everyone in what should have been an ensemble story.

So, like, if GRRM dies before he’s done, like RJ did, how will ASOIAF fans cope?

I am old enough to have been contemporaneously reading WoT as it was released, and it was— hard to sustain interest. It’s not that the books weren’t engaging, but my faves would be gone for whole volumes.

IMIO, Amazon didn’t actually want WoT. They wanted to do GoT numbers, and assumed another doorstopper fantasy would get the same reaction. They got off to a solid start, I enjoyed S1.

But doorstopper series(es) are interminable. Can’t finish b/c it refuses to end. Too many threads; the loom breaks.

It was the darndest thing. After crying for two hours I realized that all of my Sims bars were in the red. I took a 30 minute shower and drank 36 oz of water and ate something and I turned back into a human person.

Ballpoints are mostly garbage, but occasionally I will stumble upon one that makes me pause. Usually around a $2.50/$3USD price point. The Uni Jetstream Lite Touch, for example.
