OH I think I've read the first half chapter of this
I did an Ancient Metalworking day there last year, smelted my own bronze using Bronze Age techniques and tools and made a pendant - I have a very healthy respect for how hard it will be even without doing it in period style!
I've got my eye on a workshop at @butserancientfarm.co.uk to make a torc - I doubt I'd be able to do one this beautiful though!
I’m in love.
I think if you don't laugh at it, you're tired of life.

The latest update on the Iranian women’s soccer team after they were threatened on Iranian state television:
-7 had accepted humanitarian visas
-5 of those 7 changed their minds and have re-joined the team in Malaysia
This is thought to be because the regime threatened their families in Iran.

This week in Rome I learned that the Romans celebrated Septimius Severus instead of Christmas, the Vestal virgins were daughters of the Vesta family, and Nero definitely set that fire.
One of our tour guides was no doubt an excellent archaeologist, but I think her general history was a bit ropey.
I'm 48 and also always voted Labour - joined the Greens a couple of weeks ago!
A reminder, one day ahead of a by-election in which the Greens are favourites to defeat Reform, that the Daily Mail owner's wife recently donated £50,000 to Nigel Farage's party

First sculpture of 2026 in the bag! It's taken a while with terrible light and I've been both ill and frazzled at work, but nice to have one done
