Fast-moving fires (like those burning around LA) are the most dangerous fires out there—and they’re becoming more common: 🧪 www.scientificamerican.com/article/pali...
The article has a good purpose.
However none of these definitions echo our 2004 definition in the context of CBT, nor the sense in which we use PCT for universal ‘transdiagnostic’ principles.
We go ‘beyond’ any subgrouping & apply universal principles within each individual, dynamically.

Feedback loops are the process with which we can update someone's mental models and intuition. Both game design and Perceptual Control Theory discuss this in the context of behavior in similar ways.

Perceptual Control Theory A Model for Understanding the Mechanisms and Phenomena of Control – Powers et al (2011)
Looking forward to presenting at the International Association of Perceptual Control Theory conference tomorrow. I’ll be discussing how the theory might improve mental health services. #PerceptualControlTheory

Great idea! Our book on improving mental healthcare using principles from Perceptual Control Theory was published last year, and is available as a free download on Kindle. www.taylorfrancis.com/books/oa-mon...
Perceptual Control Theory (PCT) models behaviour as a means of controlling perception rather than stimulus responses, offering a powerful framework for understanding self-regulation. Focusing on maintaining desired perceptions, PCT allows nuanced insights into motivation, conflict, and adaptability.
The conference has been all the better for Tom Cochrane’s contribution, adding philosophical analysis to our pot pouri of academic disciplines!
