Eric Idle, the sketch's original performer, reflected on the band's name in a 1999 performance: I once wrote a sketch about rock musicians, and I was trying to think of a name that would be so silly nobody would ever use it, or dream it could ever be used. So I wrote the words "Toad the Wet Sprocket." And a few years later, I was driving along the freeway in LA, and a song came on the radio, and the DJ said, "that was by Toad the Wet Sprocket," and I nearly drove off the freeway.
One of my favorite sensible chuckles is "Toad the Wet Sprocket" which was originally made up as a joke by Eric Idle for a Monty Python sketch and was later adopted by an actual band as a joke.

Mushishi is one of those famous anime that's probably over-recommended, but I honestly think it's because it really is just that damn good. It's one of those oddly healing shows that simply feels good for the soul. Like visiting an old close friend you haven't talked with in over a decade.
Every now and then an anime pulls a Lain and uses an English or non-Japanese song for its opening theme and without fail it's always incredible every time. Ergo Proxy. Wolf's Rain. Even that time Texhnolyze used a Juno Reactor song.
(Also why are there always crows?)
Been rewatching Mushishi because I've just been in that kind of tired/wistful/world-weary funk and it still surprises me that they opted to go with an absolute gut-punch of a song about feeling nostalgic over an old failed relationship as the opening theme for its second season.

Oddly enough I didn't care for this one. I remember seeing bits and pieces of T2 as a kid and thinking it looked cool. Years later as an adult I watched the first one and it was... Mostly really boring? Just kind of dull and mumbling for a sci-fi action film. I don't even remember anything about it.
