Showtune 214 13.02.26 A valentine's themed show of love songs from all eras of stage and screen musicals

I don't have the backing of a big station behind me and yet I have built a show that has regular worldwide listeners. It's very very hard to publicise a radio show, nobody wants to share it, but I'm still plugging away.
This week's playlist is 'love'ly

Shani Wallis and Ivor Emmanuel in A Time for Singing.

Shani Wallis and Ivor Emmanuel in A Time for Singing.

Meanwhile in NY, Shani Wallis's performance in A Time for Singing, a 1966 flop musical adaptation of How Green Was My Valley got her the role of Nancy in Oliver! (she played the same role Maureen O'Hara played in the film)

A Time for Singing lasted 41 performances.

Bleep-Bleep Sheila White

17-year-old Sheila White so impressed the creatives of the 1966 British musical On the Level that they wrote a charm song for her and it proved an enormous showstopper.

On the Level lasted 118 performances, but "Bleep-Bleep" led directly to Sheila getting cast as Bet in the film version of Oliver!

Showtune 212 30.01.26 Fabulous show tunes from all eras of stage and screen musicals

Yet another grey and wet day outside. What's needed is an hour of fantastic songs from stage and screen to brighten things up a bit.

Great mix and the perfect start to the day. Thank you for playing the Witches of Eastwick - maybe some more of that? Or a classic Fred Astaire number? Something from Top Hat?
