James developer says, "Along with our concept artist, we have 5 full time Pixel artists at the moment, and just made a job offer on a 6th. The ai art we use for photographic elements, which we would otherwise use stock photography for. We make the ai art look as janky as possible on purpose, because for the most part ai is ugly. (We have been working on this for two years) We made a decision to use ai art for some weird stuff that makes the game more immersive (and that we would not have been able to do otherwise). There will be an option to fully disable it - although that option might not be instantly obvious.
