We already have a system that prevents the government from trashing the rights of citizens. It's called the Bill of Rights.

But the Trumpies don't believe in the Constitution or its amendments, and they think law should only be applied to the people they hate. Which is almost everyone.

The next Democratic president should call out John Roberts for creating the Shadow Docket and demand that he publish fully argued decisions-- with dissents-- for each ruling on that docket. Give him 30 days or employ the Unitary Executive powers to fire him and the other MAGAs on the court.

Renewable energy systems are cheaper to build and far cheaper to operate.

Fossil fuels are doomed, just like the dinosaurs. Same goes for nuclear.

And fusion? I don't see it ever gaining traction. Except maybe for interstellar travel.

should be required to use water sources that won't impact residential communities or farmers. They should be first to cut their water usage in a drought.

And they should be regulated. We saw what happened with social media. AI promises to be a zillion times worse.

sacrifices-- the advent of the glorious new AI age is too important. So local communities should cut back on their water usage and should just expect to pay higher energy prices.

I say NO!!

Data centers shouldn't be licensed until they provide their own power from renewable sources.

CEOs are VERY excited about the numbers of employees they will be able to lay off because of this wonderful new tech.

Data centers also suck up massive amounts of power and water. That causes local energy and water prices to rise. A lot.

But the tech guys don't think they should have to make

The AI industry plans to build massive data centers coast to coast. The major AI companies have aligned themselves with the Trump administration because Trump has delivered low taxes and no regulation.

What benefit will this new technology bring to the American people?

Chiefly unemployment.

Yes there's the 10 Commandments. But there's also Chapter 12 of the book of Joshua which lists the 31 kingdoms subjugated by the Israelites in their conquest of the promised lands. Every king of those 31 kingdoms was executed. Every village and town over which they ruled was destroyed. Every

Present day Christianity, at least in the U.S., seems to be chiefly about being saved, rather than following the teachings of Jesus. This focus on salvation gives self proclaimed Christians right and reason to disparage others who will all be condemned, per Mark 26:15-16. It's a form of bigotry.

9 states have about 50% of total U.S. population between them but only 18% representation in the Senate. And the Electoral College amplifies both imbalances.

The majority of voters can't get what they want from the government chiefly because they aren't fairly represented.

As I see it the chief problem with the Constitution in its present form is that we are living under minority rule. The House is skewed toward low population states; CA has about 26% fewer members than it should on the basis of population alone. The Senate represents states rather than people;

Some thoughts about how to measure the "intelligence" of AI systems:

The Constitution doesn't matter, laws don't matter, facts don't matter, and the only "truth" that matters is whatever hate filled slop Trump utters at any given moment.

"...with liberty and justice for all."

Right.

Great article. Every man needs to read it.

Trump has fired about 100 immigration judges. Or at least that's the number I recall reading a couple months ago. So those who are being "detained" are NEVER going to get their day in court.

The goal is to get them to self deport out of sheer despair.

Yes! Putting sand in the gears of the Trump train is always a good thing. And getting Republicans on the record is good and important work.

MAGA is beginning to come apart at the seams.

There's so much ridiculous hype about AI that I felt compelled to write the following:

Benchmarking AI How can we know if Artificial Intelligence systems are truly intelligent? There’s only one way: benchmark testing. We need a system of tests that can be run against any software agent purport…

There's an absolute torrent of delusional "information" deluging the Internet-- so much that I just had to write the following about how to actually *measure* the "intelligence" of AI systems:

taxes on AI businesses, NO government regulation, and no insight into the algorithms that produce its results.

That's a guaranteed freeway to plutocracy.

This is not a revolution, it's usurpation. The ultra-wealthy have launched a plan to permanently take the reins of power.

Beware.

to govern a society. Plutocracy has been tried many times and it never proves best for society as a whole.

The real solution to the problem of who should govern is democracy. But THAT is decidedly not an option that this AI movement has thus far contemplated. Instead it's all about low or no

ultra-wealthy AI barons at the top. Data centers are gobbling up water resources from local communities. And they are relying on fossil fuels for power.

What this revolution really seems to be ushering in is a new era of plutocracy. That's definitely NOT a solution to the problem of how best

The promise of the AI revolution seems to be that it will usher in a whole new era of solving problems that were previously considered unsolvable. AND it will bring wealth and knowledge and health to EVERYONE!
