Very much liked this painting when wandering around the National Gallery in London this afternoon. Painted in 1710 by Rachel Ruysch during her time as court painter in Düsseldorf.

Just realised you were referring to the Concerto for the Left Hand, not the G major one. It was a superb concert though.
Bruce Liu was the pianist and it was at the Royal Festival Hall: bsky.app/profile/aqui...
I took my daughter to see it on Sunday. She lives in St Albans too. I could have taken you as well!
Are you including any music by Liszt's grandson, Siegfried Wagner?
Just voted and it's 78% now.

Headline on Hollywood Reporter that reads ”Paddington 4, Escape From New York' Reboot in the Works”
I misread the headline as one movie and got very excited for a moment…
At music camp, the bassoonists learned how to take off their reeds and make a sound using just the bocal that resembled a moose in heat. During a rehearsal they all tried this out. The conductor stopped and yelled, "French horns! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!?!"
I think you win Bluesky today 😊
I was sat next to the same individual, the son of a famous film director, at an earlier concert when he shouted out "You can't conduct Mahler!" to Valery Gergiev.
Flagged as adult content 😖 C'mon Bluesky, get a grip!
Conductor Ryan Bancroft acknowledging the brass after performing Tchaikovsky 5. High energy playing from the Philharmonia Orchestra, once again on superb form.
So good that I took my 15 year old daughter!
This afternoon's concert:
What a thoughtless and discriminatory presentation. Wearying for most people and near-blinding for anyone with early stage cataracts or floaters, issues that would concern a fair proportion of the audience I should think.
Recommend a film from the 50s.
I prefer multiple composers, single conductor/performer sets.
I've not been buying many box sets recently, partly due to saturation, but couldn't resist this one of performances by Pascal Rogé. Recordings made between 1969 and 2010 on 43 CDs.

“That bass drum strike was like the voice of God... what are you scared of?”
Great chat with conductor Elim Chan, who tells me about her entry into music, her “Cinderella moment” at the Proms and her ambition to “go against the grind”:

And another:
Sibelius 2 is a desert island work for me, but I've not found a recorded version that conveys the primordial power and overwhelming intensity of the best concert performances I've heard. If I had to pick one, it would be Barbirolli's New York Philharmonic version from 1940.
Started with Brahms and Liszt and ended up Gustav Mullered.
Die Meistersinger von Carlsberg.
... played by the Philadelphia Orchestra under the influence of Eugene O'Brandy.

I once found I was sharing a phone booth with a huntsman spider when living in Australia. (I quickly finished the call.) I also encountered a funnelweb when walking in the Blue Mountains.
