A bunch of microsoft logos from the 70s, 80s, 90s and today but instead of saying Microsoft all of them spell Microslop in the vibe of the original logos.

It's fascinating to see the changes in one company's logo over the years.

I'm fine with the Game Awards rescinding the titles given to E33 with them caught in the lie about those textures that were patched out not even a week after game release. I'm hoping this will be a great impact on the gaming community to stop using Gen-Ai even in their development stages.

Larian CEO Swen Vincke says everyone at the Baldur’s Gate 3 studio is “more or less OK” with the way AI is being used on its new game. We’re not so sure about that.

Amazing article, I remember one time I was really worried about GenAi replacing me so I tried GenAi to see how screwed am I, I prompted what I was supposed to concept and I always got the most generic thing out of it, it was just useless. I felt better about it

Again I say: how fucking interesting that remote work technology is bad and not worth adopting despite all research pointing to productivity gains, but genAI which offers NOTHING is so important to adopt and force on people who have no use for it despite all the horrible things genAI does

Everyone is more or less okay with it” dude you make people emigrate to work there because you don’t do remote work, they risk having to change countries if they disagree with it

consider my feedback: i loved working at @larianstudios.com until AI. reconsider and change your direction, like, yesterday. show your employees some respect. they are world-class & do not need AI assistance to come up with amazing ideas.

Post from Matt Turnbull:

These are really challenging times, and if you’re navigating a layoff or even quietly preparing for one, you’re not alone and you don’t have to go it alone.

I know these types of tools engender strong feelings in people, but I'd be remiss in not trying to offer the best advice I can under the circumstances. I’ve been experimenting with ways to use LLM AI tools (like ChatGPT or Copilot) to help reduce the emotional and cognitive load that comes with job loss.

Here are some prompt ideas and use cases that might help if you're feeling overwhelmed:

Career Planning Prompts:
“Act as a career coach. I’ve been laid off from a [role] in the game industry. Help me build a 30-day plan to regroup, research new roles, and start applying without burning out.”
“What kinds of game industry jobs could I pivot to with experience in [Production/Narrative/LiveOps/etc.]?”

Resume & LinkedIn Help
“Here’s my current resume. Give me three tailored versions: one for AAA, one for platform/publishing roles, and one for startup/small studio leadership.”
“Rewrite this resume bullet to highlight impact and metrics.”
“Draft a new LinkedIn ‘About Me’ section that focuses on my leadership style, shipped titles, and vision for game development.”

Networking & Outreach
“Draft a friendly message I can send to old coworkers letting them know I’m exploring new opportunities.”
“Write a warm intro message for reaching out to someone at [studio name] about a job posting.”

Emotional Clarity & Confidence
“I’m struggling with imposter syndrome after being laid off. Can you help me reframe this experience in a way that reminds me what I’m good at?”

No AI tool is a replacement for your voice or your lived experience. But at a time when mental energy is scarce, these tools can help get you unstuck faster, calmer, and with more clarity.

If this helps, feel free to share with others in your network.

Stay kind, stay smart, stay connected.

Matt Turnbull, Executive Producer at Xbox Game Studios Publishing - after the Microsoft layoffs - suggesting on Linkedin that may maybe people who have been let go should turn to AI for help. He seriously thought posting this would be a good idea.

I'm getting real tired of not being able to trust that a video game doesn't have AI crap in it:

Stop using AI for placeholder assets.
Use sketches. Use lorem ipsum. Use bright pink materials. Use programmer art for fucks sake, literally anything else.
If your studio is using AI even for temp, even if they think they've covered their tracks, SPEAK UP because people WILL FIND IT

I just find it such a sad missed opportunity to include text in your game but view it as a 'background texture' that merits so little attention that you're willing to just put chatgpt spew there and not even check that you took out the preamble to the LLM response.

Fans slam The Alters after discovering evidence of undisclosed gen AI in images, text, and translation

The fact I've only found like two people calling out the AI generated content in The Alters has me feeling like I'm going insane.
I was enjoying this game so much but the look of those pictures kept nagging at me.
idgaf that it's just a few pics, AI is an insult to the very concept of art!

9 months ago 68 18 4 3

Welp. That's me done with #TheAlters

My first thought since I read this post was more, "if they used genAI for something this "small" without disclosure, where else have they done so?" & that's deeply upsetting

& tbh this seems evidence enough that genAI is a deterrent to consumers in the main

9 months ago 8 5 2 1

wow that is so disappointing, thought 11bit can do better

9 months ago 0 0 0 0

Well that's disappointing. What the fuck is it with studios thinking AI is fine *only* for the icons. If they're not important, why have them at all. If they're important then PAY YOUR ARTISTS!

So, we had some unknown outsource companies at fault for plagiarizing previously and now unknown former empleyee? How convenient! Surely the fact that art director and other marathon artists follow her means nothing.

"Those who have drank the AI Kool-Aid don't understand that all this brainstorming and iteration *is* making the game, it’s a crucial everyday part of game development (and human interaction) and is not a problem to be solved.”
