The one thing that can get a guaranteed chuckle out of this baby is going "yeeeaaayuh!" a la Lil Jon......so guess what I've been doing all week
Map of COVID vaccine availability by state
🚨 UPDATE on the current COVID vaccine access situation in the US.
Please note that this is based on state laws but different things may be happening on the ground, and some pharmacies are defaulting to federal guidelines instead of state laws.
I don't know how I expected to feel about putting olive oil on my baby's head and combing out her cradle cap but "oddly therapeutic" was not on the list
How I've missed out on life:
"Sounds like fun. But what's the parking situation?"
I wasn't sure how honest I wanted to be with ours but she made an offhand comment about bedsharing that was unsupportive bordering on hostile lol. She is great in every other regard though. Glad your ped is a bit wiser!!
The idea that so many babies get through the "try to put everything in their mouth" stage unscathed is truly a testament to humans as a species tbh
I spent so much of my childhood in various fabric stores and the fact that all the ones we went to have been wiped off the map- along with the products they sold- makes me deeply sad and worried for how we can keep folks coming into these crafts.
Marx failed to anticipate Shaq gummies
Participating in the "I know a guy" economy is more mutual aid praxis than the average activist could dream of.
I'm a cautious optimist by nature, so here's a few things I tell myself that I believe are true:
1) He's unpopular
2) It's a personalist regime and movement built around a charismatic leader which makes it brittle
3) They aren't that patient, they're more interested in breaking things
We are going to get through this one way or another.
And we are going to be standing in rubble, so it is IMPERATIVE we have blueprints ready and a line on how we are sourcing materials and how we are going to do that work together.
Without that we will be sunk.
"Now they're a little too crude for me but I appreciate the hell outta what those guys are doing for the culture right now" -my dad, on South Park
an alignment chart where the axes are CLUB/DUNGEON and DRACULA/CIRCUS
ok I synthesized a few ideas and I think I figured out how to explain basically all goth music
Ada said "Iowa" today. Technically I can't count it as her first word because it was a coincidence of her making random sounds but still pretty neat
Just learned from my nana that my granddad didn't want her to breastfeed any of her children back in the '50s because then "her parts would be showing"
I promise he was a good person at the end of the day but that is unbelievably fucked up and I cannot get over that
Ada does love to stare at ceiling fans. I should take her to that one section of Menards she'd probably lose her mind
Made my daughter laugh for the first time today so excuse me while I ride this high for a couple weeks
‘We don’t go to no damn football game to see MALE cheerleaders, we go to see super fit dudes in really tight pants kneel down & reach between each others legs, run & tackle until they collapse in a sweaty pile of man so we can get tipsy in the stands & admiringly call ‘em ‘units’
It'll always be Kum & Go in my heart.
sometimes i remember my favoerite bobs burgers joke out of nowhere—
“im regular-sized rudy”
“why do they call you that”
“i mean, just look at me”
That totally counts as praxis lmao
I dont blame them at all for thinking that but, lol
One of my favorite uncles has lived in cali for the last 50 years but recently moved back home bc he can't afford to live there anymore and he regularly has to send his friends sign of life reassurances because they are convinced that a gay man cannot survive in Des Moines, Iowa.
I am forced to admit that part of the reason I maintain a cautious optimism about the future is the extreme care that I have taken to have my life not filled with people like this. It's easy for me to forget they exist. A blessing and a curse
You would not be surprised at how many "ailments" would disappear with the end of capitalism.
