Amazing!

Today is one of those mornings in which I'm in such a good mood during my commute that when a good song comes up in my playlist I'm tempted to air drum along.
"Don't stop Believing" in this particular instance.
I've been meaning to write about this. My feeling is that it's not derivative for average code output from an LLM, but that may change for those people uploading code to Claude and asking "do the same thing, but different".
Part of the class is discussing AI open source, so it's still fun.
Final week of teaching, it's open source week, my favourite week of the year π
I always enjoy going through the old GPL enforcement cases, we now take open source for granted, but I still remember people arguing that these licences would never be considered valid.
More like I've been running on adrenaline and caffeine for weeks already, and brain no work good.
Have only tried work stuff so far, but I'm not liking it, I sort of got used to the old Claude, which is weird because I know it's just a machine, it doesn't have personality, but it feels different.
I'm going through a bit of a blog writing block, I have a couple of ideas, but I sit down and I can't write anything. These spells usually come at the end of term. I wonder why π€
I'm still not sure about Opus 4.7, I gave it a recommendation letter to copy-edit, and it made changes that were too over-the-top, a hallmark of AI writing. Maybe I'll have to adjust my prompts, Claude is usually to be very good at pointing out mistakes while keeping my voice intact.
I have a class on software patents today that is quite dense, so I uploaded it to ask Claude what it thought. It answered:
"This is a meaty lecture β lots of case law, doctrinal tests, and jurisdictional comparisons. "
Did Claude just politely say that my lecture was boring?
Adieu Paris.
Better Call Saul, Costa Rica edition.
Ambos, y para mΓ no describe clase. Hay polos de todo estrato social.
Slopaganda is such a great word.
They know, but many try to have 15-minute consultations with the understanding that it's only 15 minutes so they should never pay, pisses me off.
I truly hate it when a startup reaches out asking for a call to talk about AI and copyright and they don't offer anything, often academics are seen as free labour.
The most perfect analogy for what is happening with AI discourse is that of the Japanese soldier still fighting WW II. A bunch of people are still fighting yesterday's battles and haven't realised that the war is over.
How do you do, fellow sentient beings?
It's incredible how much oxygen these people get based on a few snarky dismissive quips.
I never thought of Dune as a hitorical drama.
Most people either wear AirPods or large over the ear headphones, so anything that deviates from the norm is cool in my book.
Amazing!
I just saw a guy wearing a pair of Walkman headphones. I know retro tech is in, but that's one technology I never thought I would see again.
He's risen... the stakes on the next challenge.
I'm now getting calendar reminders on Google to unsubscribe to services, this is the best feature ever!
My timeline all of a sudden.
I just saw someone wearing a Great Wave off Kanagawa - Godzilla mashup t-shirt, and I need this.
One of the biggest problems with the current debate is that many people's only interaction with AI is through the shitty Google search AI mode, and it shows.
"I can hear hundreds of lawsuits furiously being drafted as we speak, I canβt believe that Hollywood will let this one slide without a fight. Many of the videos I have seen can easily be classified as copyright infringement, so whatβs the strategy to escape liability?"
