If you ever wonder why captions are so wrong on a TV show, sometimes it's not AI. Sometimes it's because a show from another country with thick accents and lots of colloquialisms has declined to send you a script, so you just have to guess what the hell they are saying.

A parody account posted a fake story about Disney using AI for VFX in Avengers. AI doesn't know what parody is, so it spread the story as fact. AI stans are repeating it as proof of AI's inevitability, & if you correct them they cite more AI articles quoting the parody story. Everything is stupid.

Just saw the third production in our neighborhood in two weeks. I think things are picking up around LA, and I cannot be happier, even if it makes it harder for me to find a parking spot on front of my apartment. More film crews in our streets! Up with local productions!

I think often about that time I subtitled an episode of TV that had been run through an AI program before getting to me. There were 5 different Black women in the show, but the AI had labeled them all as the same person, along with one gay Black man. It did not have that problem with white actors.

I'm leaning toward Porter, although Becerra is still on the table. I'm not voting for a billionaire. There's no ideal candidate here, so we have to just look at who's going to best advocate for our interests, I think.

The SDCC Hotelpocalypse used to lead to a friendly series of room swaps. The system they unleashed on us today pretty much guarantees a new scalping economy for hotel rooms.

I'm a subtitler, and I keep telling people this. AI will never be able to do it as well as a human. There's more to captioning than people think.

It was a black purse, but the middle of the strap was all gnarled, so I cut it off and replaced it with a red scrap that had roses stamped in.

Today, a lady brought a purse into the repair faire that needed a partial strap replacement. I asked her if she wanted the safe repair or the fun repair & she chose fun, & now she has a one-of-a-kind purse.

I cannot stress enough how offensive I find AI use in the arts. It is outright theft, it is lazy, it is gross.

I do localization subtitling and script supervising. I have an MA, a background in education, & am an active member of the Echo Park Neighborhood Council.

It's been 3 years now since I had steady work. I'm running out of options. This job market is a nightmare.

The correct response to this missive is Two Weeks to Impeach & Remove. Anything else is aiding and abetting these crimes.
