Had a wonderful encounter at a music store today.

Rented a fog machine for a shoot tomorrow, but the store staff wanted to test it out first. As the room started to fill with fog a random dude walked into the store, stopped dead in his tracks and declared "Damn, it smells like Laser Quest in here!"

How much revenue did your fire service make last year? The military? How much money did your legislature make last year?

Why is the postal service the only governmental agency that's expected to be profitable? In the US or Canada?

Drove through that area at dusk this time last year after two weeks of driving up and down the west coast and it felt like the most magical goddamn place in the state.

“Move fast and break things” as an ethos was always going to run into “laws are a hinderance to xyz” and while people may cheekily call it ‘cyberpunk’ or such the reality is it’s nothing more than white collar criminality and should be prosecuted as such

All elevators at TTC subway stations out of service Approximately 67 of the TTC's 70 subway stations currently have elevator access to train platforms.

You can’t spend years trying to force people off door-to-door Wheeltrans service if you don’t have working elevators.

This isn’t an “inconvenience,” it’s an affront to everyone with accessibility needs.

Dude is talking about "public backlash" like its a PR problem and not the existential, you're getting tarred and feathered threat that 30% unemployment would be to him and his ilk.

In his “most notorious [job] interview,” Karp met Louis Mosley, an Oxford graduate whose grandfather Oswald Mosley was the British fascist leader during World War II and once named “worst Briton of the twentieth century.”

As soon as Mosley sat down, Karp began reciting from memory, for several minutes, one of Oswald’s 1939 speeches demanding Britain seek peace with Nazi Germany. When finished, Karp executed tai chi moves and walked out without saying goodbye.

Mosley sat stunned, convinced his family’s past had torpedoed him. Instead, he was hired and now runs Palantir’s UK business.

I also love the fact that I was a 12-year-old kid left to my own devices, kilometres from home, and I was just hanging out in a local computer store. A different time!

Build was definitely the first time I ever played around with map making. Got into DOOM modding shortly thereafter, but definitely cut my teeth on Duke!

a radioactive symbol is surrounded by a glowing fire ALT: a radioactive symbol is surrounded by a glowing fire

My dad showed up, she showed him the screenshot of the stripper on the spine of the box, and he begrudgingly let me buy it.

When we got home and installed it, he enabled the parental lock on the game, but I got around that almost instantly by deleting and reinstalling the game later that day.

That means it was 30 years ago today I was in Two Bad Cats Computers in Halifax at 12 years old dead set on buying this with my own money.

The store owner made me call home to have one of my parents come in to show them the game before she’d let me buy it.

I'm not joking when I say mRNA technology is more important than "AI" and it's a tragedy we're throwing billions into one while our government is aggressively defunding the other.
