Electoral College cartogram showing which states are in the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact and which ones could join in time for it to activate by 2028. Each state is sized and labeled according to its number of electoral votes. The states are spaced out enough to accommodate the changes in size but retain their general shapes and relative positions on the map.

Current members are in solid orange, potential members are in light green, and nonmembers that are unlikely to join are in medium gray. Members have 222 electoral votes, potential states have 68, and the unlikely states have 248. The compact would only activate once states with at least 270 electoral votes have joined.

The seven potential members and their electoral vote are Alaska (3), Arizona (11), Michigan (15), Nevada (6), New Hampshire (4), Pennsylvania (19), and Wisconsin (10). Democrats would need to gain the governor's office and/or legislative chambers to win unified power in these states, as detailed in the spreadsheet linked in this post.

NEW: Virginia just passed a law to join the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact, giving it 222 of 270 electoral votes needed to activate.

This map and spreadsheet show which states could join to activate it by 2028 depending on the outcome of the 2026 elections docs.google.com/spreadsheets...

Going back in time to tell 2015 me that Trump will get elected which brings about a new plague and then he'll get re-elected for a second term after attempting to overthrow the government and his biggest political foe in 2026 is the Pope who is from Chicago

I think another reason many Americans Feel Bad About the Economy:

There is a constant barrage of information indicating to the casual observer that people who run scams and lie and refuse to play by the rules aren't just going unpunished, they're *making way more money than you are* as a result.

It says a lot about the state of humanity that we didn't all dress up in ape costumes for the return of Artemis II.

Again I'll note that Mamdani's superpower is that he really likes people and cares about them and it shows in a way you just can't fake, and seeing him reminds you this isn't the case with so many politicians, even ones who I might agree with ideologically.

It’s very funny to include the “far left” here when the DSA mayor of New York City just ran an entire campaign on affordability and making cities work while his main opponent ran on Israel, a country almost 6,000 miles away

I dunno I think neoliberalism’s grand plan of dismantling the welfare state and the social contract and replacing them, respectively, with nothing and nothing created a pretty fertile breeding ground for fascism and this isn’t even particularly controversial anymore.

WGA Statement on CBS News Layoffs

Once again, our members have lost their jobs due to the recklessness and greed of their bosses.

CBS News Radio is an institution, where generations of the finest journalists in the country spent their careers reporting the news and holding people in power to account. The decision to simply shutter CBS News Radio is indicative of Bari Weiss and David Ellison's inept leadership.

The dozens of CBS journalists laid off today have served the American people through their talent and dedication. Given the damage David Ellison has done to CBS News in mere months, the Ellison family must not be permitted to acquire CNN or any other vital news outlets.

We stand in solidarity with our colleagues and friends and will fight to protect journalists.

one time in london i went to a small casino at one in the morning that had office fluorescent lighting, no music, and pretty much no talking. some guys were playing billiards and the balls clacking was the only sound in the room. you should have to go to a place like that
