From the sketchbook: Observational doodles made while in coffee shops, parks, and hospital waiting rooms (Susan hurt her finger; it’s healed 🙂).
That’s tape on the strap, which is fraying because my drawing is just so furious!

Only Jim Woodring would commemorate Pigmeat Markham's birthday on a calendar. Happy (belated) heavenly birthday, Pigmeat!
You heard it here first, folks. Your legs are redundant. Might as well get the saw.
" Gatekeeping athletics" 😂
So green and tempting, too.
Qrt with something watery

Local powerhouses Lisa LaRose, Faith Erin Hicks, and Darcy Van Poelgeest talk creating, surviving, & thriving in comics both personal and professional as part of the programming at today's Rain City Comicon. Great panel. I listened and learned!
Miss the Kickstarter for S.R. BISSETTE'S TYRANT®? You can still pledge—here's the link for late pledge/pre-orders!

#sketchoftheday: Waiting in line at Record Store Day. I've had better ideas.
I quickly printed up this 'zine featuring stories exploring the Broadway Plan & the e. 10th apartment fire for Rain City Comicon this weekend. I will not be tabling, but you can find the comic at the UBC Comics Cluster table. Hope I'll see some of you walking the aisles!
#sketchoftheday: Drew this during a sketch hang with a pal and we both liked how the pencils were looking, but the goal always is to get things into inked form and see how well I preserved the nuances. Inevitably, I added colour, too.

Intense times in sunny Mt. Pleasant today.
Jason's visionary future epic is now available in handy digital format!
B&w image from the not so weary wanderings of the weekend.
That's a new one! With me it's all podcasts and audiobooks (I've really let music slip, which may not be a good thing). Maybe some traveling youtubers would be a good lift!
Wow! Such a delicate balance to strike with that foliage. Too much fern detail can flatten everything out, but I think you're acing it. Pretty much a masterclass in terms of using solid blacks!
Well, hope the remaining unit is still strong, and that this will find some shelf space in local stores shortly. I'd really like to read it.
Sharp cover design! I'm impressed you're still hand-cutting. I've shredded many a good bit of stapled paper that way.
Dropped by Liquid Amber Tattoo on The Drive with Susan yesterday to check out the ‘Familiar’ group show on display, featuring three local paint masters, Meg Majewski, David Camisa, and Tunasnaps. Luminous stuff—with a level craft to make you cry. Show runs until May and is well worth the journey.
Beautiful shot. Congratulations!! 🥂🎆
The 'Legends Awaken' show marked both my return to scratchboard and gallery shows after a lenthy respite. You can see "Kitsune" and pieces by over 40 other local artists today (Sat) 12-4pm at the One More Life Gallery @ Main & 6th in Mt. Pleasant!
Though it was Rebecca Dart's birthday yesterday, she and studiomate Robin Bougie took me out to Richmond for lunch and bought me the precious art things-- tho I was at least able to provide dessert! A strawberry mango ice cream Icy from Cherry’s Icy Bar @ Parker Place. So much tasty cold!
Found in a Richmond mall. Now that's packaging.
🙌
Help Jeff with some matrimonial expenses and order his sweet, insightful comic from the times of the trubs. I have my print copy and it's a full read!
Three! Wow! So I guess it's not so important for you to come into the studio and listen to me complain & then get me half a sandwich, but I'd appreciate it! Best of luck on final approach. Hope you get some orders for the comic!
Milk and Cheese wrecking up the CN tower is the kind of destruction I like! Someday, I make the TCAF.
Before we end up in the maelstrom of hellfire tonight courtesy lecherous mad men in power, I thought I'd post some pics of my trip with Susan to the Polygon Gallery to see short films by Indigenous creators from throughout BC on a beautiful day.
"Response: Where Rivers Meet" runs until April 12th.
So simple and obvious, even a 4-year-old gets it.
A warning from 2016. Shame and misery on all who have supported and tolerated this fascist and his kind. Those who profit from his death-spirit. Those who continue to remain silent.
All evil. I will never forgive.
Solid. Solid.
