(sorry, I just really wanted to share this short; my players are so fun, you can see me being absolutely delighted at the bottom of the screen)

I just recorded a new episode and I'd forgotten, my players favorite recurring eldritch monstrosity is a rubber duck that teleports after them. It may or may not be evil, but it has on occasion saved them from danger. Its presence is heralded by a very matter-of-fact... "quack."
What a spread ๐คฃ
If my horror AP didn't have humor I don't think I could maintain it without getting severely depressed. Like, I love me some oppressive Silent Hill-esque dread and tension, but I can't run a sustained game like that. I love that my players can still find moments to be silly.

WHAT'S THIS? Episode 13 of the Gods of A? The spookiest episode we've done yet? The one where we finally explain the mysteries of the Rubber Duck?
Tune in at 4:00 PM MST to find out!

And i took none of those comments personally
YouTube screenshot: "Wow! You got way more views and your Short is getting shared more than usual." Views: 330.0K (329.4K more than usual). Subscribers: +148
The "329.4K more than usual!" makes me laugh. Indeed, YouTube, this viral short is anomalous ๐
They always say that it's the shorts you put the least effort into that go viral and uh ... yep.
"Your Short got 167.9K views. That's 167.2K more views than usual!"
Also for other #GameMasters, does this seem like excessive prep? Cause YouTube comments would imply they're all Colin Mochrie. ๐

(ooh, let me know if anyone wants to see the Sigil I keep talking about, I'd be happy to share it!)
I didn't end up with any kind of hard and fast rubric other than, "Well, that image is super duper tiny and I need to get this episode out before those snow storms roll in." But who knows! Upcoming episodes have EVEN MORE LORE. So I'll get really good at it sooner rather than later haha
So take the Sigil scene for example. I put so much effort into that Sigil. I did research (hence the Eliphas Levi pdf)! So when the PCs were investigating it, I was left with a question, do I just ... keep zooming in and out of the Sigil PNG? Do I put it in the corner and leave it there really tiny?
And besides, this is a Magnus Archives crossover, babeh! There are three things you need for a TMA crossover: spooks, a long-running mystery, and enough documentation to overwhelm an unwitting Avatar to the Buried <snark snark jargon jargon>
So why did this episode make my life difficult? Because it's the start of a gauntlet of lore. I mean, I cut my teeth on the best (FromSoftware) and worst (FNaF) lore-heavy franchises (that's a story for a different thread)
Maybe I'm doing something wrong but when I try to incorporate my PNGs into my project timeline it gets ... so ... slow. I once tried exporting just the map transition to save time later and an 8 second map transition took 20 minutes to export ๐ฑ
Since we're playing on discord I can't live out my dream of being an unnapreciated prop master (I studied theatre in college) I make up for it with *so* many digital props. Documents, letters, journals, maps, images. Any excuse to fire up Photosho (damn you Adobe). But that creates ... issues.

So yesterday we premiered episode 10 of "The Gods of A" right around the time YouTube had a massive outage, so I'm resharing it! Editing this one was a *unique* challenge
Hey, Gang! Check out our brand new episode of "The Gods of A" over on the Youz and the Tubez (assuming it's back up ๐). Come on down--we've got it all! Invisible monsters, arcane sigils, ... math. What could be scarier?

I dunno, I liked it when Alan Wake 2 did it
I like to think deckard recoiling was just harrison ford's natural reaction to leto

Hey, Gang! We're premiering our ninth episode of "The Gods of A" our horror actual play, RIGHT NOW! So exciting! As is the #TheMagnusArchives reference in the title!
Did I somehow think this post related to the crew of the Enterpise D?
Yes.
Did I get enoigh sleep last night?
No.
I was like, "Data would never! Riker possibly," but now I see we are talking about the youngin's. Steady on.
Got to the end, good sir, and I want to sit with it for a while. But. The highest praise *I think* I can offer is I wanna send copies to--well, my group. We weren't the Covenant, we called ourselves the EoS "Embodiments of Stuff". Bunch of wannabe writers, theatre kids, and undiagnosed traumadumps.
Dunno if @chuckwendig.bsky.social will see this, but it's 1:30 AM and I'm so close to the end of "The Staircase in the Woods." I just can't stay up any longer to finish it. I've loved a lot of your books but I just...feel this one differently? Deeply. I haven't gotten to the end yet but thank you
This was a fun and wild moment for me as a GM for "The Gods of A" where I literally sat back and ... did nothing. On one hand, I had no idea what Chapman was going to say, on the other, Stan is rarely right about anything he says so it didn't really matter xD

Six images of Shane Zellow in various states of facepalming despair over the antics of his PCs
Why is the latest episode of #TheGodsofA my favorite thus far?
These screencaps were taken over the course of an hour of recorded footage. Who doesn't want to see a GM reduced to this state?
