It is also quite astounding that a whole documentary is made with so many boys & men yet apparently no one explores gender. Violence is gendered. Until we apply a gendered & adolescent development lens to male violence between young people we will be talking for another 10 years.

I also can’t stand how many people use it for self promotion as solo saviours - part of the problem not the solution when people make money or get huge status (another version of the hustle often connected with violence?!) with no evidence of impact.
I haven’t yet watched the Idris Elba programme as I’ve not been in the right mood. I find it frustrating when we have these moments of celebrity & political focus on an issue many of us have been focused on for decades with endless research, evidence, insights & experience ignored.

I watched 13th again. Feels so powerfully relevant today in both a US & UK context. So many of the themes are currently playing out. If you’ve not seen it do watch, feels particularly pertinent this week as Trump takes office. www.netflix.com/gb/title/800...
journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/... - This article, written by me and Susie Hulley, explores the trend of using rap music in criminal trials.
I’ve dedicated a #SundayThread to #giselepelicot before but she deserves another one. This weeks thread “an answer to rape culture is a society so harmful for perps/potential perps that these men know their attitudes are not the norm”

I am so looking forward to getting my books out of storage. I still have less shelving than in my old flat so I will have to let some go to make way for the new! Also bought a record player so excited to start a vinyl collection from scratch 🫣
I moved just over a year ago into a small flat with no space for my ancient IKEA billy bookshelves. I’ve been dreaming of getting proper fitted bookshelves so I can get my books out of storage & they were fitted today!
I’m so happy I could burst! 📚💛

Blue sky is the 'nice app' where white people make starter packs about their interest or research area but somehow do not notice that these lists are all white and then further do not engage when this pointed out. But you are not racist, right?
Such a minefield & one I’ve navigated so many times with no perfect ways through.
Interesting thoughts & questions here on paying young people for involvement/co-production ⤵️
Sure you’re read it but I regularly go back to this report when exploring this. I think payment is so important but there’s so much complexity to getting it right www.scottishhumanrights.com/media/2251/p...
