Strava premium should come with a clutter filter. My feed is increasingly being taken up by pouting Peloton instructors or a map of a fake island in Zwift. If I am going to fork out for a subscription, the least they could do is let me mute the virtual noise and the gym-based fashion shoots.

Shouting into the void for any trail runners out there: now is the perfect time to join Chiltern Trail Runners. Next month we have long runs, hill sessions, and evening group runs planned. It is only Β£25 for the whole year. A total bargain!

Maps while navigating during a trail run now.
Maps while navigating during a trail run before (able to see other trails nearby).
We spent weeks in a beta cycle and flagged this early on. It reached the top of the bug tracker, because apparently, everyone likes seeing trails on their maps too. But @garmin.com ignored the most upvoted feedback and pushed the stable update anyway, leaving the Enduro 3 and Fenix 8 trail-free. π
My new pet peeve: Shoetubers who think a lap of Richmond Park or a flat canal path counts as a trail test. It is quite something to see trail shoes reviewed on a gravel track with a centimetre of mud at most. I wish my local trails were that tame, but it doesn't really help the rest of us, does it?
Found a nice little local hill in Scotland. Only a 1,000 mile round trip. I figured I would go for a run before lunch since it is so nearby.
Just a stone's throw away. If that stone is being launched by a high powered trebuchet and travels for 200 miles. Anything for a Strava segment, right?
It's likely just trying to keep you engaged. The more time it takes you to find the information you're looking for, the more time you'll spend looking at ads.
The massive ad banner covering the temperatures is a stroke of genius. Combined with all the pointless scrolling and extra clicks now required, it is clear that you value ad revenue and forced engagement far more than letting users actually see the weather.
Lest anyone think I am simply being a lone misery, here is a Reddit thread packed with equally unhappy users. www.reddit.com/r/CasualUK/c...
Impressive work by the @metoffice.gov.uk. Theyβve successfully turned a weather app into a stuttering, cumbersome data-harvesting mess. My favourite part is how they chose to ignore almost all the beta feedback just to ensure the user experience remained as frustrating as possible.
This game was shockingly bad. I remember thinking the intro was amazing, but then it went downhill quickly with the janky controls, poor hit detection, and for some bizarre reason, constantly having to boot dogs in the head.
Would be interested to see a comparison against the Coros Pace 3. The Suunto Run is Β£20 cheaper in the UK, which is bonkers cheap.
A bunch of us are currently faffing about trying to set up a trail running club in the Chilterns. If that's up your street (or trail!), give us a follow. If not, no worries, but maybe still follow? π @chilternrunners.bsky.social
Now's the time to invest in physiotherapy practices.
Got to love @theguardian.com hastily rewriting this BBC-bashing piece now that the news of Keely pulling out has broken.
Fancy a 20k run near Wendover later this month? This Runaway meetup is perfect whether you're running the Chiltern Ridge Classic and want a course preview, or just enjoy a good run and exploring new trails. See you there?

For the four of you that read this (probably overestimating), you might be interested in a new trail event we (Runaway) are doing in August. It's an evening run around Wendover with all proceeds going to charity. runawayracing.com/races/wendov...
The best thing about this is the removal of those stupidly small screws that plagued previous Garmin HRM straps. I broke two units through over tightening, bought a Coros HRM instead, and then never looked back.
Oh. Have you got mine? π€
@octopus.energy Is there a delay in generating statements? I've been billed and usually get a statement on the 30th of each month, but nothing for December yet.
Running has been a total mess this year. If this cycle of injury and recovery continues next year, I might have to explore other hobbies, like chess.
Woohoo! Entries for the Ridgeway Challenge are pouring in! Over half the spots are already filled. Enter before 1st January and save Β£10. I'd be running it myself if I wasn't involved! ridgewaychallenge.com
A brilliant short film about Joss Naylor: solitude and tranquillity. The holy grail! youtu.be/lJyCwOJh3ZE?...
This, this, and this. Winter is a season of misery disguised as a Hallmark movie. I'd hibernate given the chance.
This is a great episode with valuable insights from someone who's a top athlete, coach, and bloke. Definitely worth a listen.
Meganess all-round. You've convinced me to buy a pair! π
Look at those bad boys! Are you thinking of using them for any events? Apparently they're a bit heavy? π€
Image of the Invo8 Trailtalon trail running shoe
After today's slipfest along The Ridgeway, I think it's time to park the Hokas for winter. Thinking of trading them for the new Inov8 Trailtalon, which looks both grippy and comfortable, but it's also got a Lidl middle aisle look about it.
They're cheeky sods. They want us to be both the paying customer AND the product by selling and owning our data! π€ͺ
Strava's recent actions suggest they're trying to stifle innovation by targeting third-party apps. Their dismissive attitude towards user feedback is both disappointing and laughable.
