nothing is black and white but the thing is there are some shades of gray that really suck

my grad school writing sample was a paper produced from a McNair summer research program where I read Measure for Measure as a critique of the tensions between the varieties of human sexuality and early modern comedy's generic charge to represent a concluding achievement of social "balance"

all other things being equal I would not have chosen Coleridge but my college had some stipulations about using texts we'd read for our senior capstone course, which was taught that year by the Romanticist

The Miniature Wife: it's an unfortunate fact that "War of the Roses plus Honey I Shrunk the Kids" is both a punchline about our entire society and nonetheless something that really seems like it works

Worth reading. I don't agree with everything here, but I do think a lot of it is thought-provoking, esp. this: "You cannot build a lasting institution focused on human development in a system that primarily rewards credentials and career advancement."

LOVING LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Or at least it's bleh so far! Another shoe might drop but right now imagine playing a 'mystery game' called, like, "Dracula's Castle" and your player character is like "Who could this castle belong to.... and who's this Dracula fellow that keeps coming up in these dead scientists' diaries?"

Looking forward to checking out more of the big setpieces they've clearly put a lot of effort into (love the visuals and atmosphere in this thing!!!) when a patch drops or something. That I am even considering this tells you something about the strength of the vibes because the story is sorta bleh!

The save system (one game, all checkpoints) has also ensured there is no way around this except restarting the chapter or possibly whole game; there is a "Respawn" option in the menu that moves me back to the last checkpoint, but seems to uhhh just move me back there rather than resetting the map???

I mean that literally: a certain icon indicates the most important things to check out, so I walked over to a clearly empty box thus marked and the protagonist was like "Wow! A fragment of the Shining Trapezohedron! I should keep this with me" and then nothing proceeded to enter my inventory

Playing Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss, an atmospheric spin on modern detective games mixed with light imsim-like exploration. Cool! However, others have complained about the gamebreaking bugs and I knew I was fucked when the protagonist described an amazing artifact and I was looking at an empty box.

The Democrats sense that they're gonna cruise to midterm victory by doing nothing and offering nothing and are using it as a freebie to punch left to make sure the voters don't get any ideas.

Right eye-fitting monocle attached to the left lapel.
Ridiculous choice.
ALSO: What is everyone's problem with the non-monster Penguin? Why does Devito's supercede the original regular person with a bird affinity?
As a monocled human person, I am drawn to the character as he appeared before Burton. I enjoy the fact that Penguin is one of Batman's non-insane villains and am constantly rebuffed for that fact.
