We could use some of that today. The democratic candidate didn’t have to be perfect, or even that good, if the alternative was David Duke.

In the 1992 Louisiana governor’s election, the Democrats nominated a known crook and the republicans nominated former klan wizard David Duke.

A common bumper sticker at the time: “Vote for the crook. It’s important.”

The crook won. Everyone knew that was a win for the good team!

But I think the logic is this: Dems are “not good enough” (blah blah Newsom blah blah McBride’s failure to cherry bomb the toilets in congress), so it’s self-hating to “settle” for them.

Listen. It is not master strategy to starve to death because the “perfect” food is unavailable.

And anyway, even if I did think Dems abandoning us eventually was a real possibility, what is YOUR plan then? I never hear one. The argument seems to be “Dems will betray you, so give up and just act smug about losing all your rights.”

No. I won’t. Fuck off.

Blue states haven’t passed a single antitrans law. Red states are a couple steps short of rounding us up.

The single most effective thing you can do for trans rights is elect democrats.

Anyone who tries to tell you otherwise does not have trans people’s interests at heart.
