The justification she is using to support this ban on "military style" features is a shooting that occurred while there was a country-wide ban on selling guns with those features. One of the shooters - the one who shot more - was using guns that had been redesigned to not have those features.

Cool, good for them. That's not what Rep. Omar is proposing. She is proposing that we ban guns that you can stick knives on, among other select "military style" features which do not substantially change how deadly they are.
Sub-thread of potential alternatives, since the dipshit who went "So then by all means let's do nothing then" didn't like that I actually have meaningful suggestions in addition to evidence that assault weapon bans don't work, so they blocked me:
Now explain to me how banning new sales of guns where you can attach a knife to the end of the barrel will address that concern you have. All that means is that gun manufacturers will hacksaw off the bayonet attachment points and sell the gun anyways.
As far as mass shootings, they are often preceded by domestic violence but taking the news media to task for their trend - which started with Columbine - where you can instantly become famous by committing an atrocity would go a long way.
As for gun control, stricter penalties around violent crime - particularly harm to animals and domestic partners - would do much more than an assault weapon ban. (The cops won't enforce the domestic violence bans already on the books, because of that inconvenient 40% of them.)
It would be much more effective to address the root causes of gun deaths than pass legislation that requires the firearm industry to make mostly-aesthetic changes to guns. Social safety net and interventions for street violence, better mental health care for the 53% of gun deaths that are suicides.
Columbine occurred in 1999 during the Federal Assault Weapons Ban, which was in effect from 1994 to 2004. The one who had not-assault-weapons fired more shots than the one who had specifically-banned assault weapons. Assault weapon bans don't solve the problem.
Relevant to your specific circumstances, Illinois has a Right of Publicity Act - www.ilga.gov/Legislation/... - which has already been updated to include GenAI and digital replicas. Sadly, 20 states don't have personality rights laws and there isn't a federal law for it.
The 2-foot-long Super Slice from Pizza Barn in Yonkers, NY
That's why it's important to order slices that are measured in feet.
You mean the guy at Beast Studios who placed an insider bet on Kalshi for it.
People fell for it last time, when they said "ahhhhh spooky, we told the computer that it needed to blackmail us and THEN IT DID!!!!!" so unfortunately I don't think they're underestimating their intended audience's gullibility.
Yea, you can really feel the vibe coding on bsky today.
We demand the release of the Verminsteel bullybutton cut!
(With apologies for comparing your game to the Cats movie.)
Yeah, I was playing Riku of Two Reflections when Prophet was banned and... When unban discourse comes up, I know anyone saying "you could totally unban Prophet of Kruphix safely" has never actually played with it.
As ever, absolutely fuck Target.
The “Calvin’s dad explains two types” meme, inspired by a Calvin and Hobbes cartoon. Clockwise from top left: 1) Calvin’s dad walks into frame to find Calvin trying to operate a record player. The dad says: “There are only two industries left in America: gambling, and fraud.” 2) The dad shows where the record goes, and how to turn on the player, while Calvin watches. Dad says “Derivatives? Gambling. AI? Fraud. Video games? Gambling. Social media? Fraud.” Calvin says “yeah”. 3) With one hand open palm up, Calvin’s dad cheerfully explains to Calvin out of frame below him, “The stock market looks like gambling, but it’s actually fraud.” 4) In bed in a dark room, Calvin clutches at his pillow, eyes wide in existential terror. There is no text in the panel.
Y'all need to get the fuck off Substack.
I've been using KeePass2, which you have to manage syncing your own password vault but it's a bit more secure design overall than the cloud-and-browser-extension based password manage.
Hey I wrote a thing and people seem to like it so maybe you will too

"No see, this person is legit, it's just that they were a scammer committing mass fraud before the war, so that's their skillset for making ends meet now" is... certainly one possible explanation for why someone is engaging in massive spam operations.
I could see a Bant deck with Ace, Graham O'Brien, or Jamie McCrimmon; double dipping on artifacts for Ace to smash, a guaranteed opportunity to cast not from hand for Graham, and/or more options for historic spells to cast for Jamie.
Hi, I'm not a lawyer, I'm a software developer. I routinely fuck up git commands (the other day I managed to mess up when fixing merge conflicts on a Github pull request and had to open a wholly new PR to fix it) and I interact with git in both my day job and my free time.
Spiced potato and cheese, since I don't see a spicy chicken option.
A moment from Heilung's live performance
I went to one of their performances on the 2022 North American tour, it was fantastic.
