445 Tennessee kids slept in DCS offices in 2025, marking 400% increase The longest stay for a child in a DCS office in 2025 was 102 days, while the average stay was 7.8 days.

As the Tennessee Department of Children's Services grapples with a shortage of transitional and foster homes, the number of kids sleeping in DCS offices has skyrocketed. I looked into what's driving the spike at the highly-scrutinized department.

Upon hearing Director Dietz mention several times that it's illegal to interfere with immigration, maybe we'd trust cops & government more if they were willing to be beaten & arrested for protecting us the way they're willing to beat & arrest us for protecting each other?

“hi hello 911 Nashville? this is homeland security and we need you to set an alarm to help us in 3 days”

idk about y’all but I’m not buying this ridiculous bullshit

Technically the rules say there isn’t public comment for meetings with no actionable agenda items, so since y’all are already gonna break that part of the rule, why not break the time limit restriction? Committee chairs routinely use their discretion to let people speak for more than 2 mins anyway

Davidson's attorney calls this “a transparent attempt to discredit and silence a whistleblower who exposed serious misconduct within the Metro Nashville Police Department.”

ICYMI: Nashville News Roundup 3/21/2025

Lots to consider from the Capitol this week, from a reprieve on denying undocumented kids education to sending the grocery tax repeal to summer study and more. Plus Nashville Metro passed ‘guardrails’ teeing up a contract vote for Axon Fusus surveillance. open.substack.com/pub/adamshoo...

Decided to watch the Community Review Board meeting last night and casually found out that the TBI raided the files of the Butler Snow lawyers that were investigating the whistleblower report. Used a Robertson county judge and the mayor's office hasn't told anyone. 🦞
Just trust them, though. 🚨

Not sure how this isn’t blowing up yet but TBI got a warrant to raid the law firm the Mayor appointed to independently investigate the whistleblower complaint alleging that high ranking MNPD officials colluded with the state to strip the city’s police oversight board of power.

More breaking news on the MNPD whistleblower complaint: it’s being investigated by a Davidson County grand jury

There’s a lot here, but one thing that stands out (& is new to me) is the part about MNPD artificially inflating response time. When many of us attended Fusus demo in November, the main reason cited for Fusus was the need to reduce response time. One might wonder if those response times are accurate

Lots of details the author included about this lawyer. One of them was not that he’s worked for the FOP. Seems like an important omission, no?

I appreciate your jumping on that story. None of us jurors were insiders or attorneys, including me. That's the point of a grand jury. We thought it was a huge problem that grand juries have become rubber stamps of the police & DA. We did our due diligence. How is that unhealthy or a negative?

Did not have @nashvillebanner.bsky.social letting David Raybin (lawyer for FOP opposing community oversight) openly rail Theeda Murphy (community oversight organizer) on my bingo card. They call Murphy a “local progressive organizer” but Raybin is just a “Nashville attorney”. Context matters.

It’s clear that @connordaryani.bsky.social either did not have the context needed for this article or intentionally left it out. You can’t just call David Raybin a “Nashville attorney” without mentioning he was an FOP lawyer & recent killer cop defender. This is incredibly irresponsible journalism.

Yes. Late but yes. My personal assistant failed to show up work yesterday. I need to fire that dude. Oh! I forgot! I don't have a personal assistant. 😬

And also keep in mind that 95% of the witnesses we talked to were police officers. Either presenting their own cases or criticizing the department. Every witness criticizing the department were former officers, some were high ranking. The call is coming from inside the house.

I can't believe this is my first post on bluesky but here we are. This is not just about me. I really wish you guys would mention the beautifully written appeal for restorative justice that is in this report.
