Every time I come to holyhead I'm taken by how much nicer they are than Dublin but they also have worse understanding of accessibility than we do so it truly is a trade off

Nothing to see here just the Chancellor of the University of Limerick retweeting a post suggesting that those of us who campaigned for Catherine Connolly would have preferred Ayatollah Khomeini (though I think Shatter actually means Khameini) as a candidate... Outrageous stuff.

I needn't have been upset about my new chair arriving and the anticipatory grief because not only has my old chair not been taken away yet but the new one is broken :) I love when the health system is reliable

The Dáil is currently debating our motion calling for an emergency winter payment of €400 for disabled people.

This is the minimum they deserve from this govt until such a time that a permanent cost of disability payment is introduced.

I realise Laoise de Brún is an easy go-to for MSM journalists writing about trans people but given her history of not knowing Ireland is bound by EU law in this area, maybe she shouldn’t be your only legal source

I don't know how we can move forward as a society while judges like this have such power to hold us back.

I and others who are lucky enough to have jobs and be able to work, work to pay for additional costs and thus have limited incomes. Meanwhile the inaccessibility of society in all its forms remains, we don’t qualify for so many things because we are working - all while our costs are not recognised.

Oh are we doing that whole bit again where we pretend Brianna Ghey died because of social media rather than because of the people who stabbed her 28 times.

the perennial "is this a good replacement for twitter / can it become as big as twitter" discussion is so confused. hominids became bipedal about 7 million years ago. for most of the time since we did not have microblogging. it's not a necessity it's a habit, if it all goes away that's fine

The deplatforming of the Molly Russell Foundation, whose raison d'etre is the harms done by social media, but which inconveniently opposes a ban, has been an especially illuminating feature of this 'debate'.

The media is not interested in what experts think. It just wants voices who agree with it.

Reminder that Blue Monday isn't a real phenomenon, it was made up by the boyband Blue in 2002 to make me wanna call you in the middle of the night, make me wanna hold you 'til the morning light, make me wanna love, make me wanna fall, make me wanna surrender my soul

Tough ol' time for art sales of late and I depend solely on it for a living, so if you like anything I do, I'd appreciate if you'd keep me in mind when buying gifts for friends or family. If you hate what I do, I'd appreciate if you'd keep me in mind when buying gifts for enemies or nemeses.

Again, I refer to my post where I write about the Attorney General’s paper where he defined the “public interest” as meaning what the Government wants to spend money on.

This is the return of the Royal Prerogative to Irish law, not seen since the Irish Supreme Court killed it in the 1960s.

Many people think immigration happening on larger scale than is really the case The report by the ESRI found that many people overestimated the proportion of people in Ireland who were born in another country.

"People guessed around 43.8% of people born outside of Ireland were availing of social housing compared to the real figure of 6.1%."
