Apple’s App Store fees that many argue are completely unfair are perfectly reasonable. They give users a super simple, generic ability to control tracking across any app on their phone and they give you the same controlled, easy to find ability to cancel any subscription or trial. Example:
Uber is just a ride.
AirBnB is just accommodation.
Netflix is just programming.
Facebook is just communication.
None of these truly revolutionised an industry - they showed the existing ones what could’ve been but destroyed them with borrowed money then became the monopolies they sought to disrupt.

I know the safety arguments, but hospitality business across Auckland and the North Island were lucky to do half the trade they’d normally do on a Sunday.
They were perfectly decent shoes but didn’t wear well - broke down easily. At the end of the day that share price was just “I think it’s worth buying these shares for $__” which doesn’t have much to do with the actual shoes.
Wow it’s almost like most startup valuations are just based on vibes and hype rather than reality 🤷♂️

It is the most NZ government thing that we might have finally killed the Easter liquor trading laws but it’s been done the day before Easter and businesses now have to scramble to figure out whether it’s actually happened yet and can open.
That’s how it is right now but PT shouldn’t necessarily be profitable. It’s a public service and should serve the users first and foremost - to do that it should be cheaper than the private alternatives.

See where you’re coming from but if parking is free (the case for a lot of commuters driving) PT isn’t cheaper… the expensive fuel is the cheap option.
