There's definitely something to be said about romances in games in the lens of "Am I seeing the love interest from the eyes of the MC, from the eyes of the LI, or from my own eyes as the player, putting myself as the MC or LI." 🤔

Of course, the two main forms of escapism are "Being put in situations" and "Putting my little dolls into situations."

There's probably something freudian to be said about control vs. loss on control here.

Isekais, Farming Sims, D&D, Modern-life RPGs (Persona), and MMos all fall into two major categories of escapism:

"It could happen to me", or "I can make and play with my OCs/blorbo with this". 🤔

Just seeing the thumbnail already got me invested 👀

If anything, my biggest request for an upgrade/quality-of-life/make everything feels useful on GBC would be a button to change "loadouts".

Like a shoulder button (L/R) that changes quickly between 2 pre-sets of the tools you have equipped. So you can have one for combat, one for exploration. 🤔

So it might end up being a case of "they added a dedicated button for it so people would actually use it" case.

It's kinda sad when you have tons of tools, but there's always one that's a lesser option in most scenarios, for most players. 😔

I think it's because, at least, as per my own experience & circles around me, people just drop the shield very early because it's never/rarely worth equipping except where it's mandatory (like to push urchins early on, or flamethrower with the final shield).

Having four buttons to equip stuff instead of two sorts of mitigate that, but the Oracles and Original Link's Awakening, I think, are the only titles where the shield isn't just part of the character and needs be equipped, so that might be why it feels better to have it as a dedicated move/button. 🤔

Sword, I don't think so, but shield, I can see why. In Link's Awakening remake, they gave the shield its own button and it felt really good.

The defensive option is always there, you don't forget that you have a shield. It becomes part of the character, rather than a tool.

That said, I wish I have tons of money to give to my composer to have more amazing songs 😭😭😭

That's why I'm trying to not torture myself about not doing the song and dance I see every other indie devs do.

I just want to make a game. For my own fun. I don't want to be the "next big indie game Toby Fox" or whatever. I'll just be happy if others want to play it too, and even more if like it.

Everytime you think "ah finally, a good use for AI", you should step back and realize that such a response is exactly the kind of wedge corpos are trying to drive between laborers

I love playing and drawing blorbos from Farming/Life Sims. Wouldn't mind focusing my art on this on the side (while working on my game...)

But uh... any... hard ones you'd suggest? Like Harvest Moon Snes and HM64 hard... Grand Bazaar and Guardians of Azuma were a bit too easy for me... 😅
