Well, here we are just about 24 hours later. Not quite home, but I am at the airport about to get into my ride home.

Indianapolis, I have returned

Meanwhile, I have found that sun sleeves are awesome. You can get them easily online. Also, Muslim swimwear was a game changer for me. I think full body surf suits also work for any body!

Okeedokee, I think they have closed the door so I need to stick this back into airplane mode. See y'all in Indianapolis!

I get all that kind of stuff as well. But then also look like I rolled in poison ivy after about 20 seconds or less of sun exposure.

It's another autoimmune thing.

At least mine is. I have pmle- polymorphous light eruption. Do not do a Google image search for it...

But it really is so much easier to just tell people that I am allergic to the sun. And then continue to try to bring hats and gloves and parasails back into vogue.

People don't believe me when I tell them that it's a serious thing. So meanwhile during takeoff and landing on airplanes I'm sitting here with gloves and a hat and a scarf covering me up because we have to have the window shades open.

Ack

Speaking of drinking water, I'm also salty about having to go through TSA after passport control and customs, because it meant that I wasn't able to fill up my water bottle with sweet sweet Icelandic tap water.

Things in the Nordics that I Already Miss:

1. Sense of personal safety and well-being
2. Public toilet stalls that have floor to ceiling walls and doors
3. GOOD DRINKING WATER
4. Food and air that don't make my immune system freak out and turn on me

Thank you to me from every time I travel for packing a change of clothing in my carry-on, so I am no longer wearing the outfit that I had been wearing for the past 24 hours.

But then after going through customs we had to go back through TSA security which doesn't make any sense because we were already in the airport and we literally just got screened for security but whatever.

Well I'm amazed that my luggage actually turned up because it came off of the care so without a tag on it and I had to get a new one printed so that they could recheck it to indianapolis. Then I had to go through customs. Thank you to me from 2 years ago for getting global entry.

Back in the United States.

I feel less safe, already.

*sigh*

I am on the plane. I was the last person to get to sit down from my side of boarding, but I've got my window seat and no one in the middle seat. Nordics, it's been great.

I'm outside of you from somewhere in the middle of a really big passport control line. We are in the threshold of room one into Room 2 and way over there is where we will eventually pass into room three

All those years of going to Cedar Point and riding disaster transport have prepared me for this

However, since I'm really not that big of a hurry to get back to the United States in the first place, I'm just going to go with it and see what happens.

I'll be honest I don't think I've seen this many people in this airport, TOTAL, let alone in one line.

Did not get the upgrade but as passport control at KEF is crazier than I've ever seen it in my life, I probably am not going to get this flight anyway because it starts boarding in 10 minutes and I am only in room two of three

Also, there is an entire Finland national cheerleading team on this flight and are using the open space at the gate to work through some choreography.

At the gate:

Mom: *points to our plane* That is where we will go!

Toddler: I WANT TO GO ON THE *BLUE* ONE!!!!

Mom: The blue one isn't going where we're going, today.

Toddler: *sobs unconsoleably*

I almost feel like they shouldn't have said anything because if I don't get it, I'll know how close I was. 🤣

Across from an airport gate, there are rows of light brown flat benches with no dividers so one could lay down and take a nap if one wanted to

In the most tantalizing way, I have been told I am "next" for upgrade on the KEF-BWI flight.

At the risk of sounding spoiled, plz cross all your fingers that I get it? It'd be such a nice late birthday gift for that long flight...

Also, Helsinki airport has seating designed for napping‽ So cool!
