Infuriating!

It is April of 2026. School started in August. Canyon ISD has not ordered any books this school year. That is the harm to our academic students from SB13 implementation. Nothing in the law prohibits books from being ordered, but this is the outcome many of us predicted. @txfreedomread.bsky.social

This is what happens when public education is perpetually underfunded and attacked by the state (and anti-public ed PACs).

Districts across the state are cutting positions which will negatively impact students.

We must advocate and vote for the changes we want to see.

New Braunfels ISD is gaslighting the community over its book removals For months, parents and district employees in New Braunfels ISD have been raising alarms about restrictions to books in the district.

This story is crazy-making. New Braunfels ISD is dramatically under-reporting the # of books removed due to Senate Bill 13 from its schools this year. In fact, this might be one of the biggest acts of censorship we’ve seen. @txfreedomread.bsky.social franklinstrong.substack.com/p/new-braunf...

'Dangerous' bill inviting government censorship passes House committee The American Library Association condemns the March 17, 2026, passage of H.R. 7661 by the House Committee on Education and Workforce.

ALA is disappointed that the House Committee on Education & Workforce moved forward dangerous federal book banning legislation yesterday. HR 7661 contains vague, confusing, and overly broad language, inviting government censorship.

I’m calling to ask Representative {insert your US House Representative’s name here} to vote NO on H.R. 7661. This law will open the door to book bans and censorship across the country.

{Optional} Instead, I ask Representative {insert your US House Rep’s name here} to vote YES on H.R. 6440, the Right to Read Act which would increase funding for public school libraries, and support efforts to improve literacy rates.

Thank you for your consideration.”
