Happy national librarians day to my American library comrades! Thank you for helping your communities while dealing with reduced funding and growing fascism.

April is School Library Month!

If your school doesn't have a certified School Library Media Specialist, advocate to fill that vacancy.

If you do, celebrate the work they do - especially this month!

Where and How Book Censorship Is Impacting Children's Publishing Right Now: Book Censorship News, April 10, 2026 Publishing imprints for young readers are shuttering thanks to a softening school and library market. That's the result of book censorship.

“There’s a reason professional associations for librarians have been under attack & bills that would criminalize librarians have skyrocketed during this rise in censorship–librarians are obligated to uphold the 1st Amendment rights of all, rather than the interests of the current political regime.”

Re: Contempt for young people tweet...

One thing that the left has got to reckon with is how little care is given to children or families with children. The Rs lie about caring about kids, but that's at least acknowledging they exist.

It is okay to say children separately from any and all other marginalized groups. That doesn't diminish the needs or experiences of other vulnerable populations or those tasked with caring for them.

Children can be seen as worthy of being noted and championed in their own right.

I firmly believe we are doing our communities a disservice when we deemphasize physical collections and the library as a space for interaction with materials.

"Director James understood that once you start removing books to avoid discomfort, you are no longer running a library. You are curating a narrative. You are narrowing the world instead of expanding it."

I made this graphic for #SchoolLibraryMonth for librarians to share with their key stakeholders, as most librarians are sitting on wishlists that they need help filling. I find that we are always ready....always ready! #TLSkyChat

A8: Wellllll.....my current space is stuck in the '80s. I would love to ensure that there are sufficient charging spaces in the library for my students' devices, more virtual display spaces (like screens for slides), and more flexible seating #TLSkyChat

A7: I would love a budget that would be big enough for me to start a quite large picture book collection in my middle school library. I would also love a budget for new furniture and book displays, but that would be over 10k easily...#TLSkyChat

A6 #TLSkyChat We have a door to one of our outdoor spaces (the K’s call it the library’s backyard🫶). I would love a story area out there or portable furniture to take to make a story area.
