How to teach filtration, evaporation and crystallisation at 11–14 Show your learners the essentials of separation techniques with this poster and fact sheet

This new set of resources that I authored for @rsc.org @rsc-eic.bsky.social has turned out nicely. I particularly like the scrolling website which can be used as a learning resource in its own right. Thanks EiC for turning my drafts into these high quality resources.

I tend to use the balls rolling down the hill into a valley analogy. They seems to have a good grasp that objects are more energetically stable lower down (stuff drops) and then gradually linking to the energetic well. Never perfect, but stops them anthropomorphizing atoms (mostly...).

Good to see my first article in the review of this CPD series published.

Thanks Catherine.

It's interesting how much the staff also see their growth and development in the model.

Are there any Microsoft Showcase School colleagues who might be able to help?

I don't seem to have access to the Team, and am wondering if they are doing a meeting post-BETT this year.

They certainly do! Will play it by ear to start with - probably once a week, about 10 minutes.

I'm looking to develop more through-year practice and revision in and out of lessons.

This term, I'm going to try out some more student free writing at the start of lessons. Give them more opportunity to retrieve and reconstruct their knowledge. Give me more time to deal with start of lesson admin. Then model answers and allow some self assessment. Thoughts?
