Revenge Bedtime Procrastination seems like such a silly concept & yet, here I am at 12:30am not going to bed because it was a shitty day and it’s gonna be rough tomorrow and I’m not ready to call it a night yet even though it will objectively make tomorrow even worse if I stay up.

This is me, but with reading. Every book argument on social media is like “oh, but if you read so fast what do you retain? Oh, that silly book isn’t teaching you anything. Reading should help you improve yourself.” Meanwhile, I’m over here like “I’m reading because it’s that or watch TV. Go away.”
It’s funny watching all the Mets fans on my feed acting like it can’t get worse, because as a Royals fan, I can tell you it can and we are.
“Good” times.
For all my grumpiness, you can tell that I’m an optimist at heart because I just realized I have over 1500 titles saved to my Wishlist at the library that I still think I’m going to read someday. 😆
(Yes, I read a ton…but mostly stuff that’s not on my wishlist. I don’t know either.)
Yep, I see people say things like “but it’s a public space!” But the way I figure, a restaurant is a public space too, but if you sit yourself down at my table and be a jerk, I’m gonna ask the manager to make you leave.
Same. Lately I’ve even blocked people who said things I agreed with but I did’t like their tone. I was like “you’re right, but also kind of an asshole about it…bye.”😆
The world is already ruining my vibes; I’m not inviting that energy in from anywhere else.
I’m a Royals fan. It’s really not as hard as you would think. 😏
We knew that the hacks in Trump’s DOJ would try nonsense like this, and it sucks.
But there’s something kinda entertaining to the idea that they decided to Fuck Around & Find Out against an organization whose whole thing is beating the biggest assholes around in the court of law.
My timeline is almost entirely disappointed sports fans tonight. Unsurprisingly, most of them are Royals fans.
This is why, when I had a fleeting thought during the WBC of getting Royals TV, I opted not until I could find out how the Royals would manage to Royals it up this year. Glad I saved my $
Not only did I forget to take my allergy meds last night, but they were also cutting grass when I went outside for lunch. It’s gonna be a long, sleepy, stuffy afternoon.
Yep. Everything hurts more often for no reason. I now have what seems to be tennis elbow from sleeping on my arm funny.
I’d tell you not to get old, but the alternative is worse.
(That said, build a movement habit now at whatever age…that’s what’ll help. And don’t get out of the habit like I did.)
Anyway, I wish they got half as mad at Republicans as they do at the left. They seem big mad that folks are starting to expect a little more from them than “hey, at least we’re not Trump, right?”
I thought they were so busy turning themselves into Republicans Lite to appeal to those so-called centrist voters that were put off by the “identity politics” they never actually did that they shouldn’t need the left’s votes anyway, right? 🙄
The problem with our current moment is that I start to read a post like this without noticing the handle and get mad before I get far enough in for the satire to be obvious. Because it’s almost plausible in a world where the CEO of Palantir is out here posting like a bad 80s Bond villain. 😆
It’s interesting what the Discover algorithm gets up to when I post less. When I first got here it was all furries art. Now, if I don’t post much, it’s decided that I need lots of posts of dudes taking gym mirror selfies, including a guy who takes his in a pet play mask (to bring it full circle). 😆
In this week’s Costco complaints…
- It appears 70% of pedestrians in the parking lot still have a death wish.
- For some reason, they keep the coffee pods with the coffee makers instead of with the rest of the coffee. People aren’t gonna think “obviously the coffee is in the appliance section.” 🤦♀️
Just saw a Jeep ad and they presented their low starting price of “less than $66,000” and acted like it was astoundingly cheap. So if you want to know why people don’t feel good about the economy, businesses acting like a $66K SUV is a great deal would be a good place to start.
With my ongoing brunch & a movie hyperfixation, I tried a new spot this morning with easily the best breakfast food so far. Pancakes perfectly malted. Even the boring hash browns were yummy (lots of butter, I think).
But the coffee was sadly average. Probably for the best or else I’d move in. 😆
I somewhat agree…or at least, I would if that language was anywhere near as predominant as he & all those Third Way consultants like to pretend it is.
I don’t know if it’s possible to read TOO much, but if so, maybe I have. I can’t tell anymore if I can see a twist coming a mile away because it’s telegraphed or just because I’ve seen too many similar plots. 😆
Thrillers are much less thrilling when the reaction is “yeah, duh” instead of “oh wow.”
No, seriously…does anybody get this? So many responses like “hell yeah, we don’t do bad faith debate” and this isn’t that. The pope doesn’t do good faith debate either.
The Supreme Pontiff of the Catholic Church doesn’t debate doctrine. He declares it. At best a Cardinal or two might get a say.
Does the media get that the Pope is not a politician? Because they act like he’s running for office instead of being…y’know…anointed by God to lead his flock.*
(* Yes, I know. I saw Conclave too**. And more importantly, used to be Catholic.)
(** Great movie, by the way.)
And more salt than you think you need.
(The book Salt Fat Acid Heat does a great job explaining this.)
TMI time:
Perimenopause is stupid. Because yes, what I clearly need as someone who just recently clawed back from an iron deficiency is to have an bonus period this month just for funsies. 😡
LOL. Really puts a storm in perspective when it’s significantly brighter outside at 8PM at sunset with the storms finally blown through than it was at 5PM. That was a big’un. We got lucky.
For a supposed teetotaler, Trump sure does seem to surround himself with a bunch of dangerous drunks.
Needless to say, the temps dropped about 15 degrees almost immediately and still falling.
We had a pretty mild storm season last year, but seems determined to make up for it this spring.
Tornado did go south of me as expected. Belton, MO got hit. 😟
I got some really heavy rain & high wind gusts. No tater hail though (see my previous skeets). 😆
Sirens in South KC. Woohoo.
Should be going south of here, but I’m hanging out in the half-basement laundry room streaming the local news anyway. No one else is down here, which is extremely midwestern of us all. 😆
LOL. LMAO even.
(For my non local friends, one of the KC forecasters predicted possible potato sized hail for today. He later admitted he chose it to get people talking & weather aware and it worked. Maybe too well. 😆)
