the cool part about the protocol of this platform is that in theory you can move to another while keeping the audience and posts. the problem is that it's just not very accessible to non-technical users right now, but hopefully it will improve as the desire to migrate from the main pds increases

GitHub Actions is like gambling but if the dopamine hit didn't exist
this is cool as hell... the LISP scripting stuff looks surprisingly simple
PDS are fairly lightweight to self-host, so if you have a VPS it could be a good alternative i think. moover also lets you back the data up, i don't think migration is needed for that so that could be good too?
currently there's reddwarf.app, for example. red dwarf completely avoids the bsky servers and interacts with the PDS directly, so even if bsky itself is down it can still show stuff from accessible PDSs! the trade-off is that it's kinda laggy
but the thing is that even if bsky dies, the data is still in the PDS and an alternative that can access the data from it should work perfectly fine
a PDS is a server that only exists to store your identity and personal data (like posts, likes, followers). if you registered your account through bsky, you're probably using their PDS rn. the way bsky works is that it aggregates stuff from every PDS mostly for performance and moderation reasons
hi. i know a bit about bsky's protocol and there actually is a way to decouple your stuff from their servers. you can move to an alternative PDS (Personal Data Server) using something like pdsmoover.com
test comment for the widget thing
yeah. a lot of the responses i've seen here have been condescending as hell. it's like they can't fathom someone not being okay with LLMs without assuming it's pure ignorance.
it's frustrating and turns me away from the atproto dev community
i looked it up after reading this and thought the art was really cool, so i watched the first episode and it was actually perfect. it's rare to see these themes being treated with such care. it doesn't feel forced at all.
also the dynamic is very engrossing. makio feels like a mirror at times...
windows 11. i tried to run it on nixos once but i had like 5 fps, probably because my gpu is old
it looks fine to me
you usually want your image files in webp, since they're optimized for web stuff and compatible with any modern browser. you should also avoid high resolutions for images that appear small, like pfp icons
hi, it means making the size smaller so it loads faster for the users. you can do it manually using online tools or stuff like GIMP. or if you're using a SSG (like 11ty, Astro, etc.) you can set it up so it automatically compresses the images for you
ooh, i was looking at fermi a few days ago, it looks really cool too
the idea is making a federation protocol thing that's much simpler than Matrix. that hopefully would let people self-host without the instances ending up isolated or having to sign up in every single one.
it's not usable yet, but we're getting there and it's gotten a lot of attention lately
i'm currently trying to contribute to this one project: polyproto.org
we've been trying to reach out to the fluxer dev and others (stoat, spacebar, etc.) to see if they're interested in collaborating
yeah, fluxer seems nice. the dev plans to implement a federation protocol, so hopefully you can just change to a different instance to avoid abiding by their tos when it's ready to use. so i think it is the better choice rn
and one of the party members even wants to become a cop? it ends up feeling like "the system is right, actually. the problem is just these few corrupt people".
it's such a weird game behind all the style. it tries to appear abrasive and transgressive, but it definitely isn't
yeah. like, the attempt is there, but it's unwilling to fully commit to the message so it just ends up in nothing. the status quo is left unchallenged aside from bringing a few individuals to "justice", because there's no need to address it when the final boss is a god thing
ooh, there's a fan server? could i get an invite?
hinamatsuri, kumo desu ga and dowman wayman. i trust this top
the "descending" bit could mean fall
the commandment where a character refuses to give you information for no apparent reason
giving Google access and giving Google ownership are different things. it may not completely stop scraping, but it does void any credible defense they might have for using your stuff without consent. if they ever regulate training datasets, anyway
the collaborative features are particularly good, specially when compared to stuff like vscode. it's the reason i tried it in the first place.
anyway, Helix has all i really need and i like the keybinds so i just use that as my main editor
