Ontario solicitor general apologizes for ‘imprecise’ answers on inmate releases | Globalnews.ca Solicitor General Michael Kerzner told MPPs last week inmates are 'immediately' re-apprehended when they're released by mistake, something documents show isn't true.

Understand the Ontario Liberals were planning to stand on a point of order and claim contempt of parliament for inaccurate answers on accidental inmate releases before Solicitor General Michael Kerzner apologized yesterday and corrected the record. #OnPoli

Here’s what changes to Freedom of Information laws mean for Ontario Doug Ford is making it harder for reporters and the public to find things out about the province.

Transparency is central to accountable government. It is the enemy of corruption, which is why Doug Ford hates it so much. The Trillium has been dogged in reporting on Doug Ford's efforts to remove all accountability from his regime. Worth a listen. #onpoli

ANALYSIS: Is Doug Ford waging a war on cars? | TVO Today Soaring gas prices. Worsening congestion. Fewer options. Are drivers better off than eight years ago?

"Doug Ford isn’t responsible for the current spike in oil prices, but all of Ontario is more fragile and less resilient to oil shocks because of decisions he’s made." -John Michael McGrath #ONpoli www.tvo.org/article/anal...

Yet never has so much been seen, so precisely, by so many people who understand so little of what they are seeing. A system can tell you where a man is. It cannot tell you what his death will mean for a nation. Such systems are trained on behavior, not on meaning — they can track what an adversary does but not what he fears, honors, remembers or would die for.

I genuinely think the president and many of his advisers, scammers, hustlers, and keyboard gangsters, don’t understand this concept at all and you can see it in the pattern of their mistakes from Minneapolis to Tehran www.nytimes.com/2026/03/29/o...

Someone help me out here. Is Doug Ford covering up the crimes he's already committed, or the ones he's planning? #onpoli

Opposition balks at Doug Ford government’s record $244.2 billion budget The province says it will achieve that target through its record $244.2 billion budget, which has a deficit of over $13 billion, up from the $7.8 billion it projected in its fall economic statement.

The budget includes money for infrastructure, highways, tax cuts — and on page 139, a plan to make government information harder to access.

If we made the green energy transition this war would be unthinkable and these authoritarians wouldn’t be in power — not in the US, not in Iran, not in Saudi Arabia, not in Russia. Hydrocarbons are killing our freedom and just plain killing us.

One data centre or one million homes? Mapping Ontario's proposed hyperscaler boom Canada’s National Observer found and drew from multiple sources to put together a map of planned data centres in Ontario, and found at least 15 projects with a combined capacity of 2,202 MW currently ...

New story out from @cloelogan.bsky.social and me. Data centres are being planned across Ontario, with some using the same amount of electricity as 700,000 homes. Where are they? And why are communities being left in the dark?

Feed algorithms are widely suspected to influence political attitudes. However, previous evidence from switching off the algorithm on Meta platforms found no political effects'. Here we present results from a 2023 field experiment on Elon Musk's platform X shedding light on this puzzle. We assigned active US-based users randomly to either an algorithmic or a chronological feed for 7 weeks, measuring political attitudes and online behaviour. Switching from a chronological to an algorithmic feed increased engagement and shifted political opinion towards more conservative positions, particularly regarding policy priorities, perceptions of criminal investigations into Donald Trump and views on the war in Ukraine. In contrast, switching from the algorithmic to the chronological feed had no comparable effects.
Neither switching the algorithm on nor switching it off significantly affected affective polarization or self-reported partisanship. To investigate the mechanism, we analysed users' feed content and behaviour. We found that the algorithm promotes conservative content and demotes posts by traditional media. Exposure to algorithmic content leads users to follow conservative political activist accounts, which they continue to follow even after switching off the algorithm, helping explain the asymmetry in effects. These results suggest that initial exposure to X's algorithm has persistent effects on users' current political attitudes and account-following behaviour, even in the absence of a detectable effect on partisanship.

A new paper shows that less than 2 months of exposure to Twitter’s algorithmic feed significantly shifts people’s political views to the right.

Moving from chronological feed to the algorithmic feed also increases engagement.

This is one of the most concerning papers I’ve read in awhile.

I've been saying it a lot, but these deaths line up with what happened in early concentration camps during other regimes: Deaths from poor conditions, disease, or abuse. These deaths are not accidental. They are the direct result of a camp system that is designed to harm those being imprisoned.

Abysmal statement from Canada on the illegal US action in Venezuela.

It doesn’t matter how much you dislike Maduro, that doesn’t justify a violation of international law and the UN Charter. You can’t call on “all parties” to respect international law and not call out US lawlessness.

Just a general reminder that your experience on any social media app depends a lot on what *you* make of it. It is easy to find some annoying people on any platform. But platforms like Bluesky also give *you* way more power to control your own experience and to fix whatever annoys you.

Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.

The CBS takeover by Larry Ellison and Bari Weiss is the most foreboding move in a while, and I’m not saying that lightly.

It will have an effect on the 2026 elections: CBS will now lie to people and normies will believe it.

This is the playbook, folks.

If you're not paying attention now and doing something about it, then you're going to have to sit down the rest of your life because democracy is being taken away.

Do not be quiet in this moment.

Just so I'm clear:

TV host says we should kill every homeless person? No big deal

TV host says the right must "go to war" with the left? Pfft.

TV host says the government is cracking down on critics? Well, the government cracks down on him for the criticism.

Free speech, everyone.

Having proper ventilation and filtration of all indoor air spaces would mitigate symptom-free spread. So many good reasons for the govt to have a national grant/subsidy program to clean indoor air in every home, office, commercial, industrial building. What a missed nation-building opportunity!
